Hello All,

So the resolution has kicked in, 5 days without an analog and not even wanting one.

I'd been smoking for 16 years (I am 31) and was just wondering what sort of benefits I can look forward to and how long do they take to come through? I know I am not inhaling the 4000+ chemicals, but was more curious about sense of taste/smell coming back, less coughing, general body feelings etc etc.

What are peoples experiences? Does vaping surpress any benefits that non-vaping/non-smoking would get?

Cheers
Nick

I am a female. One week after giving up analogs, I looked into my 5x magnification mirror with my reading glasses on (never a good thing to do), and I was shocked. My skin was so clean and clear, and pore size had significantly reduced.

Dark circles under my eyes are slowly lightening up (I've been off analogs for almost one month).

Smoker's cough significantly reduced within 2 days, and completely gone 10 days later.

Two days after giving up analogs, I started to sleep soundly all through the night on a regular basis. No waking up at 2 am with a hacking cough.

One week after giving up analogs, I had my teeth cleaned. My bottom teeth stayed clean, and my mouth felt fresher than I ever remember....very noticeable, and the feeling has not left.

I have more energy, and I am going to start with a regular work out plan next week.

I smoked analogs for 30 years, but always considered myself in good shape. Play tennis 4-5 times a week, at tournament level. After two weeks of no analogs, I noticed that my lung capacity was already dramatically improving. Cardio was off the charts! I must have been subconsciously trying to hit winners early on in points, to preserve energy, due to less lung capacity when I was on the analogs. Now, I'll rally as long as it takes, don't worry about extended points. Already getting comments from other players at a weekly tennis cardio session group thing. When other's start noticing, you know things are improving dramatically!

Thanks all, this sounds good and definately drives me on not to return to the analogs.

I will be interested to see about lung capacity too....I work out regularly, and whilst I am at a level where I don't struggle with the fitness, I wonder if I will experience an extra 'boost' so to speak!

Am also looking forward to experiencing my replenished senses of smell and taste (think smell is coming back already) and I do love my food!!

From what i've read, and personal experience..

It get's slightly worse before it gets better, for example your still coughing up tar for the first week, aswell as you may have some spots occur, due to your body exhausting all the bad chemicals out your system.

I'd say taste spuds are a much slower process, and dependant on the person, i know some people whos took like 2 months to change properly.

I stopped coughing after the first week. I think it depends on how bad you symptoms were. I could breathe better after a few days and my smell came back after a couple of weeks. Most people said they would start coughing up things. I have COPD and was on breathing treatments four times a day but I never coughed up anything. Maybe my lungs are so bad nothing would come up but I can breathe 100% better.

I know this sounds amazing but my smell came back with a vengeance after the first day. I think maybe the vapor had something to do with it.

After a week, I stopped coughing and my sex drive increased.

My taste and lung function seem to be improving by the week (37 days smoke free).

Not to mention, my dog doesn’t leave my room anymore.

Hi Nick,

First of all, congratulations on your decision. I have been vaping for about 3 weeks now. I was on the patch for 2 weeks prior to my decision to vape. I have noticed already that I have more lung capacity. I have always walked a lot, even when I smoked, but now the hills don't take quite the effort they used to take. I am also noticing a wonderful difference in my teeth. They are much whiter now. Down side, I can taste better now and some things just don't take as good. Also, my blood pressure is up slightly due to taking in probably a little more nicotine than I should. Just bought a lower strength because the orig. strength was making me naseous.
Good Luck and hang in there!

Same. Maybe my taste/smell will still improve, but within a day or 2 I could smell the subtle cigarette smoke on EVERYTHING (and I never smoked in the house). 2 days ago I noticed my usual hot sauce tasted extra hot, yesterday I found my usual chewing gum tasted like the best thing ever invented! It was amazing. I rhapsodized about gum for like an hour, it was ridiculous.

I'll have to tell my husband this one, he'll be all for me vaping lol. :w00t:

Just don't go eating newly baked bread or you'll be in thrall for the entire day :D

I started vaping and stopped smoking in June (23 year pack and a half to 2 packs a day habit) and about 2 weeks later went to Pizza Hut. I spent the entire time talking about the fact that the pizza tasted like it did back in high school before I started smoking. Probably drove my husband crazy. Within a month my lung capacity tripled if you can count on the unscientific method of counting seconds of how long I could inhale air before I felt my lungs couldn't hold any more. For the past 23 years I spent most of the fall and winter with bronchitis and I haven't gotten it at all this fall and winter. I've had numerous colds that the little one brought home from school, but none of them turned into anything and went away within a few days instead of lingering for weeks and turning into bronchitis.
