I've been doing some extensive research to figure out what my first setup is going to be and thing I have a good idea. So as I was sitting pondering what life will be like smoke free and got to wondering....

How long did it take you guys before you started breathing better, feeling better etc...?

Also, what are some of the side effects you've had or noticed? Besides vaper's tongue, I've read about that one.

I'm currently at about 1-1.5 PAD for the last 14 years.

At almost a month, it seems like there's something new (both pros and cons) every day.

vape related:
1. I had a pretty bad case of Vaper's tongue
2. dry mouth

Quitting analogs related:
1. Fatigue
2. Anxiety / sadness
3. Bleeding gums (not constantly - just when I brush, but already less of an issue)
4. For a few days my teeth were really sensitive and throbbed a bit, though nothing terrible.
5. coughing up crud*

Not Sure:
1. Hoarseness

Good stuff:
1. breathing better
2. improved circulation
3. I don't smell bad!
4. coughing up crud*

All those. (with a few removed that did not apply to me...)

I never coughed up anything.... I expected months of lung clearing, but it never came. Maybe I never smoked enough....

My sense of taste and smell came back after about 2 weeks. Everything I ate tasted amazing! After 25 years of smoking, it was like tasting good food for the first time!

I also sleep much less than I used to. I used to be able to sleep 10 hours on my day off, I'm sure part of that was my body recovering from fighting the effects of smoking everyday. Now, 7 hours and I'm out of bed without an alarm, and I've never been a morning person.

After the first week I was breathing better, sleeping all night without waking up coughing up stuff like it did when I smoked. 3 weeks in now & I'm breathing even better now, feeling a lot better & have more energy, also I think my taste buds are starting to get better now.
It's very re assuring to read others saying it only gets better :).

Many expected things pointed out in the above posts that are improvements.
One of the most important things for me was the increase in my sense of self worth. I had been trying to get off the coffin nails for years, being weak, unable to break the habit, about the only thing I've really wanted to do but failed miserably. Stopped the cigarettes..realized "I can do this!!"..two months later I now can say "I DID IT!!!" I'm not going to go and try to climb Mount Everest, but by damn I quit cigarettes!!
edit: re-reading the above, it brings a tear to my eye! And that's from a career military man with 27 years in!!

I was noticing improvements and changes after the first week. One thing that happened was I got the 'quit sick'. It was my 8th or 9th day into vaping. I was still smoking but had it down to @ 2 a day and I got REALLY sick for 24hrs. It was like a flu. There wasn't anything going around and I hadn't been around sick people so I'm pretty sure it was from lowering my tobacco use drastically.
I had one bad case of vaper's tongue in the first month that lasted a couple days, and since then I had one mild case that lasted only one day.
I was able to smell and taste much better almost immediately. I had to do so much laundry to get the stink out of my clothes I could notice it so well now. Some items I had to give to the Salvation Army 'cause I couldn't get the smell out. Those were some of my favorite T-shirts. *sniff:(sniff*
Just be sure to drink plenty of water, it really does help. I'll usually drink @ 5 pints a day.
