How long can I keep rewicking the same coils?

RainbowBabz, don't remember if I've shared this with you already, but just in case....

Super-easy. Heck, I learned. The one thing is make sure you have something to check ohms BEFORE you fire it. I originally used my VV3/MVPs for that. Bucked up for an ohmmeter a couple months ago.

I use 30g kanthal - 1/16" drill bit and wrap 9/8 (9 loops on top, 8 on bottom) and land 1.8 ohms almost every time. I compress the coils (wrap tightly, but don't overlap). I'll keep the drill bit in while I'm getting the tails "connected" by getting the insulator and the bottom pin put back in - helps keep the coil from moving/stretching. Snip the ends and then check the resistance. Once it's o.k., I'll fire it to check how the coil glows. You want even heat across the coil. Sometimes I'll take some tweezers to compress/realign - make sure your hand is NO WHERE NEAR the fire button when you do that.

I use cotton balls for wicking material. You don't need much. A wisp about 1/2 the width of your pinkie fingernail should be plenty. I can probably wick at least 50 coils with one cotton ball. I like to make sure that the fibers are running lengthwise through the coil. Snip the ends of the wick to the width of the base, and put the chimney back on. You're ready to rock and roll. Lemme know if you have questions - more than happy to help.
