I quit day 1 too, but only because I had to. I think I probably would have figured out a way to smoke as much as I was and vape as much as I do now.

At the time, I thought it was easy, and it was compared to all the other times I had tried to quit.

Looking back, it wasn't as easy I was fooling myself into believing. Now, I wish I had rationed cigarettes to myself over time because I think I was suffering from carbon monoxide withdrawal and I wish I would have really read more about the effects of quitting smoking.

I'm finally feeling like I am over smoking, but I am still afraid that if I had one, I would like it too much. Last night I dreamed that I was on a cruise and bought 15 cartons and I was chain smoking and the happiest I've ever been in my life. It's embarrassing to even write that! LOL!

Took me about 3 days. That was three weeks ago.
This week I was having some beers with friends and really wanted to have an analog.
I got one from a friend, lit it up, took a few drags and was disgusted by the taste. Put it out then and there.
I don't think I'll be touching one any time soon

I really really didnt expect it to be this easy; i was a 1 pack a day smoker...

I have done the "I think I'll try one at the bar" move a few times over the years. I always expect to go "oh yeah, thats the stuff" but end up taking a drag and immediately wondering why I thought it would be good. I don't even go to bars anymore because the smell is offensive. Never would have thought I'd become the guy saying "oh but it's so smokey in there"... I guess I'm a non smoker now. Yay!

    Somewhere between here and there
I was smoking about 1.5 packs a day after 23 years and was really feeling the effects and knew I had to do something. I found out about ecigs and ordered a 510 kit. There weren't near as many choices back then. I immediately was down to about eight a day and it tapered down from there. I quit after about two months after making a box mod which took some of the hassle out of it. I vaped only for about three months and felt like I was slipping into depression. I was still missing something even with a HV mod and the strongest liquid I could get. It was then that I found out about whole tobacco alkaloids and tried some Swedish snus. It really did the trick for me. I still enjoy vaping but do a whole lot less of it. Many are able to quit with vaping alone but some are not. I hope you can but be aware that there are other reduced risk options that are available if you need them.

I stopped smoking the day before my ecig stuff came. What helped was that I spent all that weeks "smokes" budget on the ecig gear and couldnt afford to buy any more cigarettes. So it was that or nothing till next payday. The first week I used them was fine. My first setup was 2 510 batts from Volcano (magma), a couple 510 attys, a PCC, and my juice was Tobacco Menthol from vaporrenu, and Blue Bulls from Tastyvapor. I think what helped me not go back was the red bull juice, it was super strong. Then menthol was good in the am b/c I used to smoke Marb Smooths. That was Aug 2010 and I havent had (or wanted) a cigarette since. I soon moved on to an ego style manual battery, then an Omega and other mods. If I had to give advice to new people trying to make the switch it would be to not skimp on cheap equipment. Dont get 510 batts and an atty, get a manual ego style or other mod and cartomizers. Cartridges are going by the way of the Dodo, there are just better delivery systems.. Also, get juice from a company that makes quality stuff. IMO juice is like cigarettes. The cheaper the juice, the poorer the quality. Like, that vaporrenu stuff is only 7 bucks for 30ml, but it really shows when you compare it to something that is like 25 per 30ml. Tastyvapor is where it is at for your first juice purchase, their stuff is really strong at 24mg and flavorful and only 15 per 30ml (last time I bought from them).

Keep in mind when looking at your initial costs that it will seem like a lot in the beginning b/c you are just getting set up and finding what you like. You will find stuff that is just no good and will need to replace it asap. Once you find your favorite juice and your favorite equipment all you need to buy is replacement cartos/attys/tanks and your juice... compare just those costs to what you spent on cigarettes. Its quite a bit less.

I quit the first time I tried an e cig and it was a disposable one so not the highest quality e cig. I think it was the flavor, it was a perfect imitation to a granny smith. That's all it took. I started searching for a better e cig and granny smith juice. I ended up with a whole lot of other flavors during my search but I finally found my granny smith apple.
