So I have been making my own eliquid for about 6 weeks now. I have a few staple 1 flavor FW/MBV mixes that I vape every day (Rainbow Sherbet 20%, Orange Dream Bar 18%, Vanilla Butternut 18%). Every weekend I have been trying a few recipes mixed at 3-5 ml. I have been using MBV/FW, TFA, and some Lorann flavors. Nothing I have mixed has been horrid. Over the weeks, some I have vaped the entire sample but none were good enough to want to make more even after steeping and/or flavor adjustments. The others have been tossed together in either the miscellaneous fruit, cream or citrus bottle. Thankfully the mixed rejects are better together than they were standalone. I'm in trouble if either bottle turns out great since I would have no idea how that came about.
However, I have yet to come up with that WOW juice.
How long was it before you found your first "Oh I've got to have more of that!"?

My ADV has taken about 6 months to get right. I think I'm like most everyone else here, in that I fell in love with a vendor juice and tried to clone it. I'm constantly making test batches of other recipes trying to find another "wow" mix. I just started playing with RY4 and mixed up 6 variations this morning. Letting them sit and steep is the hardest part of testing new recipes. All I can say, is don't give up. Start with 1 flavor as a stand alone. Vape that for a while. Then start adding secondary flavors to it slowely. Trial and error is the only way you are going to get what you'll be happy with.

"Start with 1 flavor as a stand alone."
I definitely have to agree with that. I have done that with all flavors to understand what % to use that flavor at. So if I like flavor1 at 18% and flavor2 at 16%, I know that if I want to mix them evenly I can generally start flavor1 at 9% and flavor2 at 8% and begin adjusting each percent up/down from there. Unfortunately most of the flavors are not great to my taste as a single flavor. I have ended up with some good juices but just no WOW. Recipes help me a lot as a starting point to what flavors might go well together.
