I was just replying to Eduardo about clearomizers I thought this was a Volt product only. I will have a look at Gotvapes.com the more I read the more I like the sound of how these work.

I was initially looking for info on cartos but looks like I will be getting a clearomizer. Sounds like it makes more sense to go this route.

Edit:
I just read on their site I would need to get the X2 battery for the clearomizers this will be a future purchase for me. For now the topping up of cartos is the way to go...

Thanks.

The clearos will work on the standard volt batteries, but they look funny. If you don't get them from si, just make sure you get 808 threaded ones, on other sites they are called vision or ego clearomizers. I suggest the fluxomizers for the smaller batteries. They work the same, but look more like a carto. They also dot crack like the clearos do.

The Clearomizer that they're talking about for the X2 is the one they sell. It's larger capacity, bulkier and looks goofy on a small battery.

The Fluxomizers work fine on the batteries you have and are more slender, like a carto. Just use the 2.4-2.6ohm ones that match pretty closely to the resistance of the volt cartomizers. There is another volt owner around here who just got some and he's happy with them.

Thanks Mroutlaw for this and the other post info. I am now looking at the fluxomizer.

I am getting a lot of info at the moment :) It's hard to keep up but very appreciated.

I've already learned a lot. I've just topped off a carto rather than fill it and it is working like a treat. I will probably not go the cleaning route but buy new. Or alternatively upgrade to a X2 and clearomizer or get a fluxomizer.

This is good info, thanks.

Thanks bodrell,

Yes I think my initial thoughts now are to just buy new when they start showing the symptoms you describe. It does seem like a lot of work to clean them through and like you said new ones are not that expensive.

Thanks.

Seriously...they are cheap and disposable and as you're learning, you have many options.

I'm thrifty by nature so I've faffed about with cleaning them, but I know it's silly spending time trying to revive $1-2 items. I've only done it a few times just to see if it can work.

Man, I wish I could get as much life out of a carto that some of y'all are getting. I vape a lot, but they seem to last about two days before the draw starts getting hard and the vape starts going downhill. I've had llimited success cleaning them, but I haven't really even begun to explore some of the better options for cleaning them.

Boiling them for 15 minutes or so works fairly well, but soaking them in water doesn't seem to work very well at all, and I wouldn't recommend rubbing alcohol. Some use vodka or grain alcohol, but I haven't tried that myself.

I just bought a plunger setup from MyFreedomSmokes -

The Plunger - MyFreedomSmokes.com

that might do a decent job at cleaning them as well as filling them, but we shall see. I'm also going to get a Codyson CD-4820 ultrasonic (heated) cleaner for about $88; a lot of people say that ultrasonic is a good way to go, and you can use it for other stuff as well. The way I go through cartos it might end up being a worthwile buy.

Codyson CD-4820 Ultrasonic Cleaner 2.5 litres Heater Coins Jewelry 110V or 220V | eBay

Lastly, I'm going to try moving away from cartos altogether with tank systems that use replaceable/rebuildable coils like the Vivi Nova, GG Oddyseus, or the Bulli atomizer. For those, you'd likely need a slightly bigger battery/PV than what you currently have. Check out the Joyetech Twist if you haven't already; variable voltage in the eGo form factor for about $25-30.

Thanks John for your information, I think I will probably be buying new carto's from now on instead of trying to clean them.

The tank system I know is a ways down the line for me I still haven't got my head round all the things involved with a mini and the coils and everything involved might be a bit beyond me :)
I like things a simple as possible. Ideally as simple as picking up an analog.

The change is worth the effort though but tanks are a way off I think.

Thanks.

Yeah definitely, the more I think about it the more I think it makes sense just to buy new. You know you'll be getting a good carto and it's still cheaper than analogs so a no brainer, not that I had a clue before I asked for info' here. Thanks.

After saying that though I think I might have already been converted to getting a clearomizer or a Fluxomizer! They sound even better. A bit down the line I think but I look forward to trying them out. The carto's I think will be good for public use as they are more discreet so there's room for both.

I quit smoking 3 years ago after my 1st e-cig kit [an old 901 with 2 batteies, 2 atomizers, 5 cartridges and a charger--$29.99 direct from China--took 3 weeks to get here] Since then I've tried 50 different types from $1.69 disposables to $169.00 6volt mods. All were so much better than smoking! As someone on ECF quipped: " A bad habit turned into a wonderful obsession." My point is that PVs are as different as people--try everything. Let your taste and your budget be your guide and watch ECF instead of TV.

In vaping, I have finally found something more complicated than cell phone plans. :)

There is so much to know it's not even funny, but if you have the luxury of having someone show you a lot of stuff hands-on and in person, it makes it a hell of a lot clearer. But you've done the most important thing, which is to stop smoking and start vaping!

I think it probably is easy to get obsessed with this, the choice out there is unbelievable.

I haven't smoked now for over a month, since I started with the Volt and only felt like having an analog once on around the third day but I found resisting smoking was pretty easy because of the e-cig. I feel better have more money in my pocket and I'm enjoying the new experiences with the e-cigs.

I'm enjoying the journey but there's still a lot to learn for me.

Thanks.

Wow you're not wrong there. I can't believe the amount of stuff there is to digest and learn about. It's like a new language.

I have found some of the youtube video's helpful and I have just joined this forum and learned a lot already so I am slowly getting there. If it gets a bit much for me though I can just take a draw from the Volt..... and not stink the house out or fill my lungs with crap and it's that that makes it worthwhile. :)

You make an excellent point; vaping makes learning all about vaping much more bearable - funny how things work out sometime. :)

And speaking of YouTube reviews; I just posted this in another thread. If you wade through all, or a lot, of their reviews, you'll know so much it's amazing:

"Since we're talking about reviewers. I really like PBusardo, Scott Bonner ("igetcha69"), GeekGirlVaper, Grimm Green, and Fazed (I've since forgiven him for his first review of the Smoktech VMax lol)".

Bon vape.

Oh it was Scott Bonner's review that made me go for the Volt, I'd read a few other reviews for the Volt but it was his that nailed it for me in the end. I'd seen a few of his other reviews before when I first decided to research and he seemed to be knowledgeable and honest in his reviews so I trusted his call. The discount codes on his site helped as well.

I will check the other reviewers you mentioned, thanks.

Have both setup is nice. I use the clearos at home since I can clean them and change flavors. Every night, I choose two flavors (I have 26) and fill 2 clearos and vape. When I'm at work, I use the cartos (I will be switching to fluxos as my cartos die).

I am a very cheap person, hell,I am one of those extreme couponers you see on tv, but i figure if I get 10 uses out of my carto, I got my moneys worth. I do get more tha. 10 refills, but that was my point where I decided its not worth cleaning. I look at it this way. 2-3 cartos is equal to a pack of cigs(let's go with 3). If I buy a pack of cartos and a bottle of juice and just refill the cartos with the bottle, that would give me 35 cartos (the equivalent of 12 packs of analogs). That would cost me $20 if I only got 6 refills and used SI juice (I use SI and other companies, some of which was half the cost of SI). If I bough 12 packs of analogs down here, I would spend $75. So for me, that says its not worth cleaning.

I actually do even better since I have over 500 ml of juice that I didn't even pay $100 for. So many companies offer free bottles, and I have taken advantage of that. I've been lucky too, since I have only had 3 sample bottles that I didn't like, oddly e ough, they were all for the same vendor

I've had enough success cleaning cartos using crappy, time-consuming methods to make we want to try better methods. I seriously get only about two days out of a carto before it clogs up, so at $1.79 each that would be $325 a year. And regardless of how many you use in a year, if one carto could be properly cleaned in two minutes, you'd pretty much be making 30 x $1.79 = $53.70 an hour.

And you thought you were cheap. :)

Great insight I think that's the kind of routine I will be looking at getting into. A clearos for home use and cartos for public. Like you I want to save as much money as possible and it just doesn't seem worth the bother or gamble to clean cartos especially because buying them new as you have described is so cheap compared to analogs. Also like you after reading this I will probably be getting a fluxomizer after my current cartos are finished. They sound much more convenient it will be worth the upgrade.
