How long do you use your heads?

I've had T3 heads going strong for 3 months. I no longer dry burn heads because the cost has gone down so much it's not worth it. Now I have some Vapeonly BCC heads going for 45 days and I wonder: Do you use them until they stop burning? Mind you, I wash them once or twice a week and leave them overnight in vodka so that there's no leftover flavor. I keep a spare set of heads that I carry with me, just in case, and rotate them. What do you do with your heads? (specially T3, Vapeonly, Protank and eVod users welcome!)

Yup, I rebuild my Protanks too. They usually last one to two weeks depending on the juice I use. I don't bother cleaning them but I will rinse them out occasionally (okay, I guess that qualifies as cleaning). Never had a problem with lingering flavors when switching but then I use simple juices with only one or two flavors.

I use them until they die or start tasting really harsh/weird. I've noticed that just before the coils either die or pop, they usually give off a really harsh, metallic taste. That's generally when I tend to swap out. At first, I tried changing wicks when that happened, but it proved completely futile. The wicks I changed weren't even burnt. I've gotten a week out of one that had become like that, but it wasn't pleasant. Shortly after the taste reached its worst point, the coil blew out.

Generally, I get 4-5 weeks out of them before they reach this point.

I vape menthol exclusively, so I tend to have just two "up and running" at a time. I alternate when I clean, which I do once every 5 days or so by removing the wicks, dry-burning, and rinsing under warm water.

I've often wondered if grain alcohol somehow shortens the lifespan of the coils. When I first started using T3's, I was also using vodka (I've also used everclear) as the base for my menthol solution. My coils only lasted two weeks at the most when I was using juice with that solution mixed in. Now I use PG for my menthol base and my heads last twice as long. Granted, I've only been using T3's for a few months now, so there could be other factors at play.

I've been using my head for almost 65 years.:p

OH, you mean PV heads??

I'll run two to four fills through before cleaning under running hot water - as hot as my hands will allow. If the coil is gunked up, I'll dry burn or wrap a new one, depending on how I feel at the moment. Having used a lot of different style clearos on my quest for the famous (infamous? ephemeral?) all day vape, I do tend to let them build up a while and then recoil them all.

About 4 months ago, I bought five V3 rebuildables and the same amount of replacement heads. I break them down and clean them once a week. I have not had to replace any of them so far... when they stop working, I will toss them. I am not a rebuildable kind or guy. @ around 2.00 a pop, I would rather screw on a new one and puff away.

RInse them dry them and stick them in a baggie. I am sure someone on the forum would love to have the dead ones for spare parts.

I have yet to have a T3 head give that bad metallic taste, granted I've only been at it a few months. I've had the bad taste problem only with the (I think they call them) Stardust type clearos, which is ultimately why I switched to the T3s. The problem I DO run into with the T3s is, once the juice has been run down once or twice, I start getting a muffled pull. When this happens I rinse everything out with hot tap water, then switch out the head with one that's already been rinsed and dried, and just rotate the 4 or 5 heads I have. I have yet to have a T3 head stop working, but I'm waiting for it.

Same happened to me. The heads I bought in November are still going strong. None of them have popped mostly because I vape at low power (never over 4.2 v). The very few was due to the Zmax telescope mishap, heads get stuck and I need a pair of pliers to get it out. So I use it and use it...

I do put them overnight in alcohol and none has popped yet. I wash under hot water with a pair of kitchen pliers... so it gets thoroughly clean.
