As mentioned (with images) above, the coils in the carto will degrade over time as liquid (darker and thicker hastens the process) adheres to the coils and doesn't get vaporized. With CE2 cartos and attys, you can attempt "dry burns" to assist freeing this "crusty gunk" from the coils.

As a carto doesn't take well AT ALL to dry burning, the guitar string is useful to use pipe-cleaner-style to clear some of this hard crusty stuff from the coils.

Some cartos (dunno for certain about DCC, or if diff brands work and some don't), but generally can use this method on a regular carto to eek a slight bit more life out of it. Worst case is you bunk the carto, so you toss it.

Hope this helps.

Need to ask if you condom fill your cartos befor using? Then when you get the flavor shift, you say you are only putting in 3 drops x 3?
When a boge carto reaches flavor shift it will flood & leak at 15 drops. 12 drops works perfect. After you drip the fluid into the carto, take several short draws without applying power to draw all the fluid into the matting. (until it stops gurgling)
The 3 ohm SR boge carto has been on my 5v pass through sinse 10 Jul. The 2 ohm LR Boge cartos last about 1.5 weeks on my 3.7v mod.
I probably hit 10-15 good draws before putting in a few drops on my dcc, just seems to hit better when fully wet!

speaking of DCC, I just picked up some of these late last week (the day I left my earlier "retire" post! :) ).

since the individual coils run a bit cooler than a normal carto (SR and especially LR), anybody notice the life on the DCCs being longer/better quality due to this? I'd think in some ways it would help, basically running 3.0-3.2 ohm coils which on a 3.7v batt is pretty cool (the heat of the pair is additive tho). Since we are only talking about days with carto life (in most cases), figured it would be better QUALITY over that same timeframe when compared to a single coil.

Battery life is another story entirely tho. :)

well, i have a few random cartos around, tried them just a few times and wasnt at all impressed. I started my journey into vaping with these long, stainless, 1.5 dcc's. I guess im spoiled, nothing else I have around here that came with my 10+ kits comes near the performance. As I said earlier, Ive been using the same five for a couple of months!

ahhh, thank you! I guess i never had my glasses on while looking down in there!! Gocha! Ive never noticed a clog, but now im gonna check it out! Maybe I should take one apart just to see whats actually in there!!

I killed about 50% trying to clean out the center tube, so I don't even bother anymore. It depends on the Cartomizer style also, some have a horizontal coil that you CANT clean out using the "pipe-cleaner-guitar-string" method.

Yes DC can last longer because individual coils run cooler.
I've been using some DCs over a month.
Decent vapor at 3.7v and really start kicking at 4.2v.

Ive been using the same five for two months, they are still going strong, but I only use BWB tobacco flavors, no gunk, dont know if this makes a difference!

Well if you've had them going for 2 month and they are going strong you must be doing something right *LOL*.. For m00nshake to only get 2 days, something is up :-(

This..

The guitar string method works but it can kill the cart as well
