2 months, becuase i have been to lazy to order some kanthal, however its coming time to do it, i wanna try and wrap 32g around 26g and try that.

A good coil will last almost forever, it's wicks that fail.
I've been using this one for 3 months now. The silica wicks are starting to darken, but the coil is still at the proper resistance.

Don't confuse a micro coil with a nono coil. Nano is about the diameter of the coil, micro is about the spacing of the coils. Micro simply means that the wraps have been squeezed together.

Cool to see all the replies. Luckily I picked up on the rebuilding quite easily and have been using a vertical nano and live the flavor production and amount of vape it produces. I also built 5 extra coils that are in the right wing waiting. Next up will be rebuilding the coils in in my aspire tanks

Er...I don't think so. 'Micro' generally refers to any diameter below 1.7-1.5mm, and 'Nano' is some as-yet-undefined parameter smaller than that (at or lower than 1.2mm, perhaps?).
It's true that people associate 'micro-coils' with 'contact-coils' (or however you want to term this), but it needn't be the case.
Usually my coils start increasing ohms. That tells me a break is getting ready to happen. I can often get away with taking a wrap off the top but I just discovered at that point changing the coil will give a better flavor.

Dry burning and then taking a tiny flat head screw driver across the coil to scrape off any carbon build up. Rinse, dry and rewick. That's how I clean mine and they usually last around a month. They'd probably go on longer, but I'm just itching to rebuild them after that long.
Generally a 27 or 28 ga micro coil with cotton wick will last me 3-4 weeks with a wick change and dry burn once a week in my Kayfun. I do vape unflavored in the kayfun though. I use my dripper for flavors (mostly NETs) and a 30ga coil that will generally last me 2+ weeks with a wick change every other day.
You can get 100 ft of wire for like $6 on the eBay. Usually with free shippingEDIT: I do dry burn before I re-wick...I also tried cleaning with iso alcohol as well with no luck. I get about 4 cycles out of this before it starts to taste crappy.. I buy wire by the foot from my local shop so I really would to get the most out of my coils.. I just cant
I love this forum. I was just thinking the same thing myself. I've changed my coil about once a week for the last month. I'm gonna have to try to keep it on there longer now.
I think rust would be the only real enemy of self built coils of 29g and lower kanthal, coils of 30g and over can and will actually burn up (pop).
That said I have been vaping the same twisted 32g 1.5 ohm in an RDA all day everyday for the past three weeks, the ohms drifted to 1.6 but I dry burned/squeezed and it went right back to 1.5 ohm.
