i ask as a buddy of mine just bought almost 3500 feet of wire for his FDA stockpile.

3500 feet seems a tad excessive to me unless life expectancy doubles in the coming decades. I have 200-300 ft of various wires and that will last me years. And the fact that nichrome, kanthal and other vapeable wires are used in toasters, hair dryers, car seat heaters, etc., I see no need to stock up.

In any case, how long does a 30ft (or 15 or 100, just specify) last you and do you exclusively use DIY coils?

Thx!

I used to go through a lot of wire as I was experimenting with different atomizers and builds. These days I rotate through a handful of atomizers and I rebuild them maybe once every few months. I feel like 30 ft of Kanthal would last me more than a year, perhaps two.

I too see no need to stock up on resistance wire as it has other uses. 3500 feet of resistance wire seems excessive to me as well.

"FDA stockpile of wire" is going to be a leading contender for laugh of the day. o_O

Thank your friend for me. :p

As for usage... I don't roll exotics but I understand you can burn through a thousand feet easy just learning to wrap Claptons. That wrapping adds up amazingly fast.

But after that... well, there are some who just love the hobby of coil experimentation.
Is your friend one of those? Buying in bulk is smart, if you're going to use it.
Otherwise it's a case of... "I can't afford to save that kind of money".
Oooh... a sale!
:p

A simple coil is six or eight inches of wire and should last for a good few weeks... at least.
Using up even a thousand feet would take... well, I'd need more attys. A lot more.

Thanks for the laugh though. :)

Not when you can get it on sale for 1/2 price. I will never have to buy wire again.

And yes some vaping wire will be restricted. as I outlined above.

You're being pedantic to score some kind of point.
NO raw wire that we use will ever be unavailable or overpriced.

Could vape vendors gouge on price? Sure.
Will they when it's available elsewhere for todays pricing? Not if they're smart.

"Coils", whether factory heads or rolled by some counter monkey... are not what we were discussing.
