Corinth, Ms
AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - The world's three largest light bulb makers said Thursday they will push European consumers to switch to energy-saving bulbs in a bid to cut carbon dioxide emissions that are believed to contribute to global warming.

The statement by the European Lamp Companies Federation, whose members include General Electric, Siemens and Royal Philips Electronics, did not give a concrete time frame or target. (GE is the parent of NBC/Universal, which is a partner in MSNBC.com.)

They said their strategy would include "public incentives to encourage consumers to purchase more efficient products and setting performance standards that will eliminate the least efficient products from the market."

Cigarettes are entirely and exclusively to blame for global warming and climate change. After all, when you light them they get hot, don't they? And think of all the smoke - like a northern mill town in the '30's, only much, much worse. Ban them I say - ban them all, and leave us free to bulb in peace as we save the planet!

Am I the only one with a stash?

Seriously people, you better pull your heads out of the sand and start stocking up. Did you really think Big Paraffin was just going to stand by and watch while bulbing starts to eat into their profits?

It was just reported in another thread that the FDA has tested these devices and they have found traces of radiation being emitted, and some samples showed evidence of photons. Not only that, but they say that light bulbs get really hot, and people can easily burn themselves by touching them.

Look, I know, you know, everyone knows that you can already burn yourself by touching a freaking candle flame, but that doesn't seem to matter to these people. If you can burn yourself in any way, then the FDA is going to ban them.

The antis only see two choices, go dark, or die by burning your house down with candles.

Greatest discovery of the decade. You can light your bulbs without electricity....use potatoes to power them up on the go. Check out the video to see how.

that's good and all but I'm looking for someone to get my bulbs into a more travel size for when I'm on the go and need a fix for light and I just can't wait until I'm in a house with a light switch.

YouTube - Lightbulb moment

I am confused, what kind of potatoes are we suppose to use?? Russet? White round? Red round?

And what do I do if it stops working? Rinse in hot water? Or should I perhaps soak the potatoes in cola over night? Would grain alcohol work as well?

I am so confused! :-x

As you can see Hellen and SuZ your slanderous allegations caused me to get BAND from BCF.... you will rue the day that you crossed the Duck RUE i tell ya RUE!!!

Nice flashers by the way Hellen ;)
You deserve to be reported often!!!!! Good job HAH.

Well, kiss my bulb! Duck is now claiming to be in a band? Probably also claiming to be the lead duck and claiming to be the inspiration behind this famous song. Rue, Rue, Rue your bulb, sparking down the road. Merrily, merrily, merrily merrily, wish I were a toad."

By the way Duck, nice bumps! :)

I think most people would probably tell you not to clean your potatoes at all.
But I soak mine in Diet Coke once every week, and I haven't lost a potato yet.
