Anybody have any good leads on flavored lamps? The ones I have now have the familiar burn when I lick them, but I'm looking for more flavor!

Sometimes I think that the commercial flavors never hold up to promises. There are very tasty recipes, however, posted in the lighting liquid DIY forum. You might like to check them out. Don't forget that high-end mixing equipment can help to liberate the flavors from raw ingredients.

I really like my lightbulb, and haven't lit a candle in two weeks, but I'm really not getting enough heat from my lightbulb. I am getting a lot of light, and I can see things really well even at night, but there just isn't the same heat like my old candles. Is there anything I can do to get more heat? Please help, the heat is really important for me, and I'm really starting to worry that I'm going to go back to my candles.

Firstly make sure that you're using clear bulbs. Opaque bulbs simply put a layer between you and the filament that you just don't need if you want to get properly heated. Don't go back to candles! Think of the damage they did to your clothes...how they made you smell...and how often you burned the house down. Bulbs are the future - think bulb!

Thank you everyone for all the information. I would like to cut down on my candle usage, they are so expensive and all my friends complain about the smell.

What I am wondering is - Are Light Bulbs Safe?

The reason I ask is because I have read that there are UV rays in the sun that give you skin cancer so you should avoid sunlight exposure. Since light bulbs produce light too, what is the risk of skin cancer? Light bulbs sound great, but I don't think we should risk skin cancer by using them until there have been long term studies.

I wonder if sunblock would help. I have seen 60, 12, and 8 sunblock. It is way too confusing. Can I mix 60 sunblock with lotion? I got some lotion at WalMart - did I get the right kind?

Thanks so much,
~A

I work during the night, and sleep all day, so I really don't need light. But lately I'm finding that on weekends when I am out with my buddies having a few beers I want some illumination sometimes. So I have been thinking of maybe using these "bulb" things because I am afraid I might start wanting more light now and then and I am worried that if I don't bulb I might start using candles.

I have been lurking here awhile, reading everything about light and electricity and filaments and scented oils, and I know some of you are going to say don't start using illumination if you don't need it. I can appreciate that, but there are times I really need to see and there just doesn't seem to be enough light.

Is there anywhere I can buy zero watt light bulbs?
Will they help me see any better in the dark?

Thanks!

I'm sorry guys, I had to. All this talk of candles made me go back.. and it was with 4 at once! I feel so terrible..

-edit-
Ok, I feel better now. I put the candles out because I wasn't getting any flavor from them at all anymore. Now I have a new problem though.. This device gives me tons and tons of flavor and smell, but very little lumens. What am I doing wrong?

My advice - if you're not an addict then don't start! People who bulb do it because it's (possibly) a less dangerous way of handling their addiction. If you're not already hooked then you'd be wise to give bulbs a wide berth imho. And don't even think about candles - do you really want to be a social leper?

I've only once tried the zero watts for stealth bulbing in a mandatory non-bulbing area. But I felt as if they strongly build up cravings for a good flash. So, I'd say that lightless bulbs are not really worth the hassle.
