I, my wife, and my brother all vape, and I have a few friends that have shown interest (but not enough interest to actually buy any equipment :) ), and I know of two other people in my area that vape but haven't actually run into them since they started... other than that, I've only ever spotted one "in the wild" vaper, and that was in a bar in Smethport PA where I was playing a gig. He was puffing on what looked like an eGo, but I'm not sure what it was - our whole conversation was him quizzing my about my "Vaprophone" (my mic-stand-mounted foot-controlled 510 abomination)... as noted by many others here though, I do get a lot of questions and general interest from our smoking fans.

I live in St. Louis and I've never seen anyone here vaping. The only person I've ever seen vaping was a guy I saw doing it in Pentwater Michigan when I was vacationing there about 3 weeks ago. He has a large pv and he was taking a large draw off of it as he was crossing the street. I hadn't yet started vaping yet and had never seen an e-cig other than the little ones they sell at the mall so I wasn't sure what he was doing until I saw him exhaling the vaper. This was actually one of the reasons I looked into vaping in the first place.

We are an underground breed. I for one do not like drawing attention to myself. Lets face it electronic cigarettes are still a novelty and most people at the first sight of one would have their curiosity peaked. I am all for spreading the word about quitting smoking. I just do not want to be bombarded by a million unwanted questions when I am just trying to go about my everyday life. Maybe it is just my anti-social tendencies haha.

I've been given a few odd looks from strangers, but people mostly don't even notice when I vape in public, even in smoke holes. I met up with a couple of friends I hadn't seen in a while recently. They did ask what I was doing when they saw me vape. Their initial reaction was that I had some sort of medical condition that required this contraption...like an asthma inhaler.

I was at the block at orange? (just moved from LA to OC)... anyways, my wife was vaping her 510 while we let our daughter play around the fountain.... a young couple came by and made small talks about vaping in public..... ( I really believe that most vapers ? ( is that the right term?) don't want any confrontation or stares....) anyways, the guy pulls out an V2... so i pulled out that my SDMK2 and laughed and vaped for about a minute..... anyways, i've only seen 2 people in public.... other than the 8 co-workers i've converted....

I have been vaping since August and have yet to run into anyone else that vapes (well except for the people here at work I have converted - yeah me).

I live in Central, MO so just curious if location has anything to do with it. Would be interested to see how many people have or have not encountered another vapor in their daily routines?

There's another guy about 10 feet from me at SFO vaping right now :D

I have yet to meet anyone out in public that is vaping in front of me. I have converted many people though. I also sell ego's and juice to people at work. So hopefully it will start taking off more often. I have gone into some of the local tobacco shops since my wife still likes to have a ryo menthol from time to time and I vape in those shops and the guys in there are always asking if it works. I let them know that I kicked the habit about a year ago and they are surprised. I remind them that it is because they are selling "crap" ecigs, lol. I try and educate them but most of the time it doesnt work. I think I should start an actual vape shop here in town. There are a lot of people to convert in large military towns.

Keep in mind, those tobacco shops are making their money by selling tobacco. If they start selling eGo's and juice, then they are hurting their own business. To me, it's not surprising that they only sell the "crap" ecigs.

I think a vape shop in a bar makes sense. In Dallas, where the law doesn't allow smoking in bars, but vaping is legal, a bar could set up a small vape-shop in a corner, selling eGo's, juice, and "stuff" could do well. I have no reason to go hang out at Vaporesence (the only real shop in my area), but if there were something similar in a bar where other vapers hung out, I'd go visit, see their mods, drink a beer, etc.

I actually ran into a guy here locally when I was at autozone.. he was vaping a sparkplug. other than that, none. I do know there are others here that vape, in one of the restaurants I frequent they tell me there are others who vape in there too. and smokeless delites headquarters are here local too, so I'd imagine a bunch of them vape.

I ran into a couple of vapers at DisneyWorld 2 weeks ago. We were in the Hollywood Studios and decided we wanted to sit down and blow big clouds(we usually just quietly hit it while we were walking around the parks) so we went over to a nice shaded smoking area and started fogging up the place. There was a man sitting a little ways from us who got so excited to see us. He was a new vaper and had been using it for about 10 days. We talked shop for a while and I gave him this website. I saw another guy using his on the Disney bus that ran from the resort to the parks. His was a cigarette style and surprisingly no one on the bus said a word to him about it. The last one was a bag inspector at one of the parks. She found my e-cig setup in my backpack and asked what it was. When I told her, she smiled real big and said she used one too. We talked shop briefly, much to the annoyance of the people in line behind me I'm sure. :D Those were my first "in the wild" sightings of e-cigs and I've been using mine for almost a year now.

Just passed my 30 day analog free and I actually saw a "Wild Vaporer" today.

I stopped off at a local burger joint and saw the maintanence man for the place holding an e-cig. I waited until I was done eating and asked him outside. "What flavor you vapin?', Him: "What?" I asked again, "Oh I'm on Wyatt Earp." He commented that he has been vapin for 2 years! I said congrats it's only 32 days for me!

Off I went but this is the first person other than friends I have seen out in the "WILD"! lol
