How many Proteus do you plan on making?

vw is easy for me to make it. If you prefere proteus to be a vw then I am ok with it. But vw is not something more than a vv device. They are exactly the same. To increase watt you have to increase voltage, that means current. There is no real difference between those 2 units

Yes there is but its not worth the argument. Does that mean you will have VW modules for the GGTS at the same time? :thumb:

bah!

I love my Darwin, that won't change...two different styles and feels for vaping but both are equally nice in their own ways

Well,Imeo is trying to tell you that your Darwin will be good for the classies in 2 months time heheheh

I think the problem with high voltage or wattege is that imr 14500 batteries have Max. continuous discharge rate : 4A.
If you use Ohms law you can calculate how high you can go if a batterie starts at 4,2 v and goes down to 3,5 v.

Please tell us?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris ,

If you start with 4,2 v and 2A you get 8,4 watt and with 3,5 v and 2A you get 7 watt.
I think this is the reason why devices like provari and the Kick use at least 18350 imr batteries which have a discharge rate
from minimum 6A, if my calcultions are right.

Gotcha. Thanks for that.

Chris

Hmm that doesn't get me excited about a 14500 mod.

aw imr 18350: 8C
aw imr 18490: 15C

I'm seeing that equals: That battery can be discharged 8 or 15 times the capacity

How does that equal into the 14500 being 4A discharge rate? I'm so confused right now lol. What would be the max discharge rates in amps on those batteries?

AW IMR14500 is 4A. 4 Amps / .7 Ah = 6.7C. 4 Amps (Max) X 3.5V (cut-off) = 14 Watts

no problem, but 4A is the max, that's pushing it hard and with only 700 mAh it won't last long delivering that kind of power. safer bet is capping the amperage much lower for a battery like that and/or capping the power potential as well. i have no idea what imeo's plans are, but pushing a 14500 to 4A and 14 Watts is less than ideal.

14 watts is good and I'm guessing that battery can handle more when freshly charged. 14 is more than enough though. That actually doesn't sound bad at all now :)

Also thanks buGG, very helpful.

also, say you make a coil at 1.5. once you go down to 9 watts (well in the sweet spot for many) the voltage required is under 3.7V...so there would have to be a step down and step up circuit to cover a fuller range of power, above and beyond what the actual voltage of the battery is. that's more and larger components rated for more power, much bigger size, likely more costly. and you still wouldn't reach the power range that would satisfy a lot of the dual coil carto users. perhaps a smaller booster circuit will work better, around 4.2 and up. just a thought, but keep in mind this was only going to be a regulated 3.6V device...so even the most restricted variable voltage or power range is going to make a world of difference here. the ts offers more possibilities in terms of overall size and power possibilities...and i think that's where imeo's vv or vw focus has always been, this is perhaps just a taste of what's to come.
