Hey family,

How many of you guys pop out the whole bottle and the pump line and refill and then reattach the pump line to the nipple each refill vs just removing the bottle.

I have had extreme problems and difficulties just removing the bottle technique. I have to angle it upwards and lately I snapped 3 nipple things on my 2 reos. Uggghhhh - I have had such bad luck and mishaps doing this way.

When I got my first reo 4 years ago. It lasted as my sole PV for 3 years straight with no problems. At the time I pulled the bottle and pump line off the nipple when I got it. And it worked flawlessly for years like this. When bottle was empty I just slide whole unit off refilled and slide whole unit back on.

Recently I realized that technically that's not how rick designed it and that you are technically suppose to just unscrew the bottle leaving everything else alone. Like I mentioned I have had problem after problem doing it this way, snapping 3 nipple thingees when angling the bottle slightly upwards to remove it.

So how do you guys do it ?

Thx.

I've always just popped the battery, then tilted the bottle out (at maybe 45 degrees), unscrew from the cap, and screw in a fresh bottle. I can't imagine how tilting the bottle out could snap the nipple, unless maybe it wasn't threaded into the 510 connection all the way. I mean, you're putting pressure on a metal, threaded connection, with a piece of plastic tubing. I can see where the tubing might come off if it's not superglued into place, but snap the nipple? (Man that sounds hot!! ;) )

I don't understand why you would have to remove the tube. I just unscrew the bottle, of course holding my Reo at an angle. I place a folded paper towel under the tube and let it go and lay her down. I fill the bottle, pick up my Reo, lift the tube up and into the bottle, screw on. Use the paper towel to remove any drips inside, slide the cover on and get after it! I think you're making it too hard on yourself and also risking damaging the tube or the stem at the top.

I unscrew my bottle, pull it most of the way off and blow through the dripper to get the rest of the juice out of the line. With a spare bottle I add some hot water a couple times and just squonk it on through to clean it out.

I would watch the video's from Super X, he walks you through the world of REO pretty well.

I do none of that messing with napkins! I unscrew the bottle and hold the tube up. Refill the bottle with my other hand and refit it. Done.

If you are pulling off all the tubing to refill a bottle you are making your life hard. Clean it all out and then drop some superglue on the outside of that nipple next time before you push the tube back on it. That'll stick it there and you'll have a lot less messing about to do.

This is my method as well. Many times I don't even bother with the "blow through." The small amount of juice mixing is negligible and often times quite enjoyable.

I do exactly what pwheeler does. When you say "snap the nipple" I don't understand what you mean. Don't mean to be dense, but what nipple?

The nipple is the brass fitting where the top of your squonk bottle tube attaches to feed your atty. As has been said, it would take quite abit of torque to unseat it let alone snap it off.

No paper towel here either. I use Lisa's method for filling the bottle, unscrew hold tub up place bottle in Reo as a holder and fill.

I almost always pull my whole hose off from the nipple, put the reo down and do whatever I'm going to do with the bottle, clean and refill and flush out the hose then when I re install it I just slip the hose back on the nipple and wiggle it up a bit

a lot of times I'm mixing my juice right in the squonk bottle so I like that I can dispense individual liquids into the bottle then screw the cap back on with the hose and shake it up good and then rinse the whole thing in the sink, dry it and stick it back in as a complete assy all clean and dry. I use silicone hoses so it's easy and leak proof never had a problem

I also find it easiest to just unscrew the bottle from the cap to refill. I get a 5 ml syringe with a blunt needle loaded with enough juice for the refill. Unscrew the bottle and leave it on the table with the end of the silicone tubing still in it (no drips). Fill with the syringe and then screw the bottle back on.

I've had the silicone tubing off the nipple, but I find I have to use needle nose pliers to get it back on which takes a bit of time and it's not necessary.

Works for me, but as always YMMV :)

My tube came off a long, long time ago. I never bothered gluing it back on, because I found just taking the whole assembly out to be better after the fact. It's easier to blow through it/wash it/everything bottle related. When I get new Reos, I snag the tubes off before even filling it for the first time.

Another little benefit is every once in a blue moon, while screwing the bottle back on the cap, the o-ring inside the cap can get positioned weird causing air squonks or leaking. Having the whole cap and tube out, compared to leaving it inside the Reo, allows for easier 360˚ glancing to quickly catch this little snafu if it should happen.

Also, as turbo said, should any mess occur, it's easier to have everything all assembled and give the entire assembly a quick rinse/wipe down.

The only thing to watch out for, is to just make certain enough length of tube is sticking out to ensure the bottle isn't hanging.

Cheers

Turbocad ! Yes !!! My only guy that uses my original method - thank for not making be the only guy.

Like I said I tried to do it the other way with everything attached and now I broke so many "nipples" lol - one time the bottle had a tiny hole (and I didn't know it) so I had to tighten the bottle so hard each time for the pumping action to work that if I slipped for a second tightening it and the nipple piece broke. And another time bending it up exactly how the pic filthy beast has I broke it - I guess I just suck. Sorry I don't know the technical term for the "nipple" but ya all got the jist and one person explained it better than me.

Overwhelmingly it seems that everyone leaves the hose in place.

Thanks for the feedback and video links and input.

(And yes of course Rob is the inventor - complete typo with rick).

And funk Dracula does it my preferred way too.

I forgot what I did originally - I think I just yanked it off like you mentioned and it fit back on fine each time.

Now though, I want to do it that way again but having trouble reattaching the hose back on eAch time.

Is there something you do turbocAd6 or funkdracula that makes the hose slide back on both easily as well as securely for no leaks.

I guess ill just insert something like a drill bit to make the hose a little wider and easier to slide back on unless you guys have a suggestion.
