Let me decipher this for you.

n we all know it's no use arguing wif yr gahmen.
he say it is so it is.
he value a bloody 3rm resale flat at 400k u oso lan lan open wallet.
he say chewing gum more worth banning than ciggies so u stop chewing gum n smoke yrself to death.
he make yr buy-car-paper go up to 100k u still lan lan must buy.

I rest my case.. beginning to sound abit political.. =P

And we all know it's no use arguing with your government.
The government's stand is final with no recourse.
You have to suck it up even if a 2 bedroom government built flat is valued at S$400k in the open market.(3 room = 2 bedrooms + 1 living room. Total floor area is around 700sqft)
The government decided that chewing gum is more worth being banned so you have to stop chewing gum but you are free to smoke yourself till death.
The Certificate of Entitlement(COE) required to own a car goes up to S$100k you would still have to suck it up and pay up.(COE is one of our government's way of controlling vehicle population in Singapore. Current price is close to S$100k and this does not the price of the physical vehicle you're buying. In short, this is the non-transferable license for you to buy a car and it lasts for only 10 years.)

Yes.... I still get mixed up with the Brit and Yankee English. I believe it's "vapourisers" spelt with the additional 'U' and 'S' in place of 'Z.'

And my secondary school teacher once said, "There is no right or proper way to speak English. As long as the audience you're addressing understands what you're talking about, you are speaking it correctly."

But the grammar nazi in me still pops out once in a while especially when I hear people using "revert" and "irregardless" wrongly and my pet peeve is "Kindly please"

Maybe because I took my teacher too literally, that why I almost failed my English back then and I had to learn through the most practical way. Hanging out with people who spoke grammatically correct English, which happened by chance and enduring them correcting me.

A place near you
It would depend on what is the purpose of the device that is built and how it is marketed during the approval-to-sell phase. Smoke machines are built for generating smoke whereas PVs are used for.... you know.

The last I remember there are no provisions for class action lawsuits in Singapore. Remember the HG by-election case? Mdm Vellama had to cough out $20k(IIRC) to the Courts just to file the paperwork required for the appeal and this amount does not include Court expenses, lawyer fees as the case was taken up pro-Bono by lawyer M Ravi.

Apply this to the case of PVs, it would easily set anyone back by $50k just so that this case can see the light of the Courts. And there is no guarantee that it will be ruled in our favor.

The funny thing is, WHO, FDA and all similar agencies around the world are harping on the fact that ecigs have not been proven as a smoking cessation method. But they fail to realize, intentional or not, that ecigs actually do play a part on Tobacco Harm Reduction.

To the powers that be, there is only smoke or don't smoke. There is no middle ground that is hard to regulate and police.

To what i can see why agencies trying to stop PV or similar product that simulate tobacco smoking is that of such alternative hurts their revenue ,both tobacco company and TAX collectors. On my speculation is the tobacco company start a complain about a large revenue drop to the "you know WHO" by explaining as such will hurt their collection as well if they don't put a stop to it.

-->"electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) are currently prohibited under Secion 16 (1) of the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act, which is enforced by the HXX (HXX)."<--

The big question... when is this written? Date ,who and why..we as TAX payers have all the rights to know. If it's nicotine product restriction ..how come nicotine pads and inhaler are allow and base on what reason ..ain't the nicotine inhaler somehow rather simulates smoking experience as well ..but of cos PV has a better simulation to actual smoking.
QUESTION THEM..

Guys, why don't we just ignore the English teacher.
If he doesn't like it here, he can go to the European part of the Forum.
This is "SG Vapers" anyway.

Local forum are meant for locals, non-locals are still welcome.
If you do not understand anything, just ask nicely.

What's the point of being highly educated, if you don't have basic manners.
This is a forum, not a formal meeting.
Sigh, another so-called high IQ low EQ.

The law has along been there. They just added the definition after Khaw Boon Wan declared that ecigs encourage people to pick up smoking.
