Hi, ordered an e-ecig off amazon a few days ago, got it for the mother as she has suffered with heart disease but refuses to quit smoking after being a smoker for almost 30 years so hoping this ecig can atleast help her cut down. Being a non smoker I don't have a clue how e-cigs compare to normal cigarettes and how many cartridges one would be expected to smoke per day. This is the model, I don't know if it's any good...but it didnt come with instructions lol.

Health E-Cigarette with 10 x high strength cartridges, and USB charger: Amazon.co.uk: Health & Beauty

The redband she smokes has 16mg nicotine per pack and I've read on here that a typical high nicotine cartridge can contain 22mg. So will 1 cartridge a day do the trick?

Is this model any good or should I get something else, any tips for converting a stubborn smoker?

Appreciate any feedback! :D

It might be a good starter for her. But since she has smoked so long she will probably want something more substanial. I smoked for 40 years so I know exactly how she feels. Does she use the computer? Maybe if you could get her interested in talking to the members here on the forum, it would help also. Tell her there a thousands of people all around the world using ecigs and are greatful for getting their lives back and not being a slave to cigarettes. How many cigarettes does/did she usually smoke. That will give us an idea of where to start.

Thanks, found the model on another site where it said 1 re-fill gives about 80-120 puffs and she reckons she has about 20 puffs on 1 cig so it 1 cartridge eqates to 6 cigs which I can't see working for her as she smokes 20-25 a day unless she goes through 4 cartridges but then that would make the nicotine addiction worse right.

Nah she doesn't use the computer much. It seems well built I had a few tokes on it myself :p See what she says hopefully doesn't think of it as a gimmick and then I'll order a better kit, just don't know what to go for.

The amount of nicotine in a cigarette and in a e-cig cartridge aren't directly comparable.
The cig is what you are actuallly inhaling, the e-cig is what's in the juice and it's generally
accepted that you only get about 40%. Also the cig is a rush of nic (straight shot of whiskey)
and an e-cig (pint of bitters) so the effects on the user is different. The e-cig allows us to
maintain a comfortable level of nicotine in our body to ward off the nicotine fits. :)

Make sure she knows that we have all been there - most of the members of this forum smoked for more than 25 years. It's not a fashion item or a gimmick, these things really work... but often you have to find the right kit and the right e-liquid refills to make it work really well and we are all different so there's usually some trial and error involved.

We are thinking of her and wishing her good luck. I hope she loves it, and if not then I hope she sees the potential and finds the one that she will love.

Good luck! :)

In my experience (as a beginner, only vaping for a few weeks) the cartridges don't really last all that long without a refill of the e-liquid. E-cigarettes are more complicated than regular cigarettes, you have to learn how to refill the cartridges with e-liquid correctly, and know when to refill them. Sometimes the atomizer must also be dripped on with liquid. If she doesn't know how to use it, she might not come away with a good impression of E-cigarettes.

Hopefully the reusable kit will work out but if you want something that just works for anyone, without any hassle or knowledge then you might want to consider purchasing a disposable e-cigarette. They cannot be recharged or refilled and are not very economical in the long term. But it will just work - period - until the battery runs out. No knowledge required, the point is just to give her a chance to try it out for at least a day or two. You really want something that will work easily and you want something that will actually show her that she can do without the analogs. If this works out then she will impressed with the product and more than willing to learn how to use the refillable, rechargeable ecigarettes.

Shes going to check with her GP first incase the e-cig reacts with her medication, crazy as she has no probs chain smoking every day  So my brother is going to give it a try instead for a week. Spent some time browsing the forum, will prob order some e-liquid. Surprised how popular this vaping scene is, never came across it in the UK.

Thanks again for the help

Looks like a 3-piece. And may be a super-mini. A super-mini has the tiniest carts and the shortest battery charge. A cartridge of a 3-piece super-mini will not last long at all - maybe 4-6 cigs worth before it needs more elquid or another prefilled cart. You need eliquid to add to the carts or buy a lot more carts. And I don't see soft silicone plugs on those carts - they are probably sealed inside with foil that the atomizer pierces. It will be a bit difficult to refill carts in advance and not have the juice spill without cart plugs. If you can find M401 carts anywhere, they will not work on the Health ecig but the silicone plugs from them will be usable to seal Health carts after you refill them.

I recommend you get a total of 5 posts or replies, and then about an hour after that you'll be able to post in the UK subforum. They have a better idea of what's available in the UK or nearby.
UK Forum

Re ecigs in general - they are great if you have a decent model and refill the carts or cartos (or have lots of money and buy tons of prefilled carts or cartos). I think the majority of people on this forum were able to switch immediately to vaping instead of smoking and many of us smoked 3 decades or more and some people didn't even want or plan to quit but did.

Re the eliquid - Chinese 100% PG base juice is probably in those carts. With 22mg nicotine it could be very irritating because nicotine is a skin irritant and PG does little to buffer it. I recommend you look for juices with at least 30% VG, I would even recommend 50pg/50vg to help make sure the vapor does not irritate your mom's throat or lungs. You could even try 100% VG but that could really cut down the TH. I think there is a VG elquid company in the UK? Ecopure? Not sure.

Re the Health ecig - I won't lie - it's model that might satisfy an ultralights smoker or lights smoker for 3 weeks before they start looking for something better. I started with a very similar model and was a light and ultralights smoker. I knew how to fill the carts, I had eliquid and I like gadgets and didn't mind having to mess with it often. On the upside - it looks and feels very much like a cig and has good flavor if you have decent juice. Due to its look and feel you may have a better chance getting your mom to try it. Make sure she smells the vapor - most of flavor is smell. Cigarettes bathe you in smoke so you don't have to think about smelling them.

I have recently bought this ecig and it was awful. I know to each their own but after spending 30+ bucks on it I realized it wasn't worth anything at all. I wouldn't recommend her to even try this and get a refund on it before opening. The vapor production is low and the cartridges do not have a good flavor to them. The battery life is about 30 minutes if that. I would spend a little more money on a better starter whatever that may be. I just don't want to see you throw away your money on that.

I was smoking Camel Turkish Gold, around "18mg"/pack, but we did away with this measurement in the US since the testing protocols were different. There's quite a lot in cigarettes, and tobacco which are not mimicked in e-cigs. I found my nicotine consumption has increased by 50%.

My experience base is limited to the Blu, KR808-D1, 510, and T-rex. I found that the KR808-D1 with 24mg cartridges, Marl Bros flavour, were the first to address my urge for a cigarette. Thus I'd lean toward this for a stubborn smoker. They're two piece, less parts to muck with. The design produces a very warm vapor, which mimics real smoking, and 24mg/ml should produce that throat hit, what you want to mimic the experience.

I don't know the UK market, but here is one example
JAC Vapour mobile starter kit - 28 day warranty - 14: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics
Home

£ 36.99 for pair of batteries in your color choice, a case which charges the batteries away from a power source ~5 times or so, mains plug, yadda yadda. Note I've never ordered from these guys, the link is just an example of what you can get.
