How much did you spend on a pack.

Well, in the NY NJ area about two years ago, they raised the cigarette prices like nuts.

When I was smoking I was paying between $7.50-$10 a pack. The prices varied drastically between supermarkets, delis, and obviously gas stations.

I'm just curious, how much is it for a pack where you guys live?

$5.63 was the price of the last pack I bought this past june. I have no idea what the price is now.

The discount tobacco store near me is always the cheapest amongst all retailers. Currently (without any promotional offering) top name brands like Camel and Marlboro go for $6.00/pack. Mid-price and generics are about 50-75 cents cheaper. The big deal currently is the RYO mchines inside the strore. buy the bulk tobacco and tubes....walk across the store to the machines and load em up. Doing it that way, one can get the price down to about 3 or 4 bucks a pack. Since excise tax is per pack, a good bit of tax is eliminated by using this pack versus bulk loophole. Sometimes you can't hear yourself think in that store since the machines are so loud and there are so many people using them. I don't smoke much anymore, so I just buy a single pack once a week. But if I hadn't gone electronic, I would be all over those machines too.

Around here, a pack of Marlboro goes for around $4.35.

I pay around 5 dollars in GA in WA it was between 5 and 7 depending on where I got them.

Yep, I averaged $6.50 per pack at the gas stations and $45 per carton on the Res...

Houston goes around $5.85 to $10.00 depending on where you are.

If you figure, the drive through place is the cheapest, the gas stations jump up .75-1.00, the bar machines are around 7-8 and the clubs are around 9-10.

Or so I've been told.

Same thing here in Texas iitzholic. About 2 years ago (maybe 3) the state added $1.00 excise tax to a pack. And the retailers added 20 cents at the same time. The next year, the Feds added 70 cents a pack excise tax. And the retailers added another 20 cents again.

So the price of Basic went from about $39 a carton to around $59. Then they charge you an additional 8.25 percent sales tax.

Thats right, they are taxing us on the tax.......

Buying by the carton, it comes out to about $6.40 a pack. Probably around $6.89 if you bought a single pack.

The cheapest smokes were at Walgreens and Valero. They even beat out Sam's Club and Walmart.

But, on the bright side, I would probably still be smoking analogs if they were still $39 a carton.

i was paying 15 dollars for the top equivelent of a carton and i rolled my own so about 99 cents for a pack of papers.... i switched mainly for health reasons. no way id pay 50 dollars a carton. only thing is i was unfiltered so i was getting everything from the tobacco all the carcinogens and chemicals and when i did spring for the pack it was about 5 and a quater before tax. and i only got camel 99's
