I spent a lot during the first two or three months, stocking up on eGo batteries and buying e-liquid and cartomizers. Then I switched to dripping and DIY in Dec 2011 (much cheaper and a lot less hassle), bought some nicotine liquid, flavorings, PG, and VG. I haven't bought anything since December, except for a few flavorings in February -- and won't need to buy any more e-cig supplies for another year or so. There should be a choice for "less than $100 per year."

I'm just really getting into vaping pretty regularly, I vape nearly constantly but I'm still having cigarettes regularly as well... I am thinking this is just a transition phase but I know regardless of how much I vape... I still get a want for a Kool. I am almost 100% sure its not a nicotine addiction because if I'm ever out of Kools, I can't take a cigarette for someone and be satisfied... to be honest I absolutely hate all other brands (menthol or not).

Right now I'm on track to spend in the $1000 - $2000 range... which if I can quit smoking will be a huge saver as I currently spend roughly $3200 a year on cigarettes. But if I'm still vaping constantly and using cigarettes frequently... I may go broke :p

Cigarettes here would cost $5475 a year (They are 15.30 a pack)....that being said I had resorted to buying cheap native smokes a couple of years before I started vaping. The native smokes would have cost me $2080.
I have several nice mods, and a bunch of DIY stuff, I feel a whole lot better, and I haven't come close to spending $5475...but I am getting up there when it comes to reaching the price of those disgusting native smokes.

If you count in the savings from the dollar store crap and mall knick knacks I would have bought if I wasn't sitting here at my computer every day reading reviews and shopping online, I save even more ;D

I'm still checking out various hardware, so the "initial" price is higher.

But ... We may need a secondary poll:
Has *anyone* reached the point where they're not buying new style hardware to try? ;)
I did.. a few days ago. Happened across a thread that features a Ni-Mh 'Puck' mod using those batts (1,2 volts each) and I'm in the process of making my own with parts from RadioShack.
I have spent around $12 and will be making 2 mods from it. 4,8 volt vaping rocks.
But I digress. I've spent $1,020 so far - since I stopped smoking 2 packs of analogs a day - and I began vaping for good on February 14th this year. But now, I'm stocked up on e-juice (DeKang + homemade), Ni-Mh batts, and cartos. I seriously doubt I'll spend another $20 this year... I began my journey into mods one day 2 months ago when all 6 of my Chinese-made e-cig batteries needed recharging at the same time! Necessity is the mother of invention, and I made a cheapie e-hookah using 3 1,2 volt batteries taped together and a dead cartomizer with a thread adapter. From there, I purchased 1 boxmod from a ECF Registered Supplier and after vaping with that - decided it's time to make my own.
So.
No more expensive stuff for me! I'm sooooo done with that. My money will be better spent elsewhere on stuff that I really will enjoy vaping......
That is my experience (so far).

Oh my word!
How can anyone up in Canada afford to smoke???! That's not just terrible, it's freaking highway robbery.
But to you, congratulations on giving up analogs and doing something really healthy for yourself.
Analogs here in Texas (D-FW area) are $4,54 a pack for 'new introductory offers' and after a few months, they go up to the regular price of $5 to 6,45 a pack... no thanks. They can keep that crap - I'll just keep on vapin'...

I spend well over $1000 since March of this year which was due to finding what I like, juices that I like, cartos attys to find what I love. Now after finding my set up FINALLY I have saved some money. Than again I have a Reo wood in work and a EQ and I am about to order a second Monkeyboxx so forget about saving money.

For me its not just about the nicotine replacement any more. Its more of a hobby now. I love mods and new things.

We (the wife and I) use to spend over $600.00 per month on smokes, So spending the same amount on new mods or stuff to play with is no big deal. We did not quit the smokes to save $ but to get heather. It worked. :)

Kept a spreadsheet my first 6 mths to track my expenditures against what I would have paid out for the analogs. For me the savings piled up quickly considering my previous 3 pk/day habit. Started out with an eGo kit, bought all kinds of flavors, and when I'd saved over $800 compared to the price of analogs.... bought a Fistpack to reward myself. Since then... things have settled down. Even with buying a few additions mods, I'm in the roughly $1,000 a year category. When you compare this to the $1,000 I spent my first 6 mths (including that $200 well-worth-it Fistpack) and the almost $3,500 I was spending a year on analogs.... well, I can't complain!

I've spent 1/2 of what I would have on smokes for my first year. This includes my early on mistakes from before discovering ECF. My second year, now that my hardware purchases have settled down should be much less. Oooohhhhh shiny, gotta have that mod can be very expensive, I'm at a point where the new product has to have at least a promise of a new better design, better vaping experience. :)
