It keeps on going down. In my first 12 months I spent $2,147. Seven months later, I've only added $400 to that so my annual average is down to $1,565. But I'm fully stocked on everything. Other than buying some liquid (probably starting next month) I don't expect to spend anything else for a while.

I recently added a "per diem" column to the spreadsheet on which I keep track of my spending and savings. After the price hike in NY last July, my old habit would have cost $42 a day. Makes the $4.29 per day vaping has cost me so far quite the bargain.

I have yet to spend the 200$ a month that I used to spend on Camel Menthols. Now I have a 5v box from Godzilla that does everything I want. So now that it's just (mostly cheap DK and trying out others in the lower price brackets) juice and about 5 smoketech cartos a month....20-30$ or so.
I quit mostly to save money, to blow on tropical fish and things to make my guitar sound weird. I do enjoy being able to run faster and furthur though.

I'm another "mailbox stalker" and will admit to spending $400 - $500 in the first couple of months until I found my favorites; but now I am finding out that about $40-$50 / month is just fine. I am a heavy vaper who works at home, so no restrictions on when or how much I vape (well, I have to put both hands on the keyboard for part of the day). But I have been off the "sticks" for over six months, feel 100% better and am simply estatic that I have made this a permanent switch - after 45 years of smoking!!!!

I am definitely spending more than I did on cigarettes, but I smell so much better, lol! Really, I am still in a collection phase. If this never ends, that's okay. I won't spend as much in medical bills down the line. I have found premade juice I love, diy some to supplement and have enough new hardware toys for the moment. If I don't buy anything else for other people and follow the modding I am interested in, I will bring the cost into the range I spent on smoking. And that is fine. I am healthier and happier. That's kinda priceless.

I'm still new, but did an abundance of research prior to diving in the deep end. I know there's still a lot to learn but I have a good understanding.

After my initial $31 investment for a starter kit, I tried it, liked it and moved to step two.... Getting equipped! So I ordered $130.00 worth of "Stuff"...

My wife turns to me and asks "When is this going to start saving us money?" I told her it may never save us money, but I'll be around a lot longer to grow old with her...... Not the selling point I thought it would be...

That's interesting that some say they've spent more with e-cigs than analogs. I've kept detailed records since the beginning (81 weeks so far) and I've spent about 45% of what I would have spent on cigarettes. But I've settled in on a preferred setup and just buy juice and replacement parts at this point, so I guess I could see that it could run into money if you wanted to experiment a lot.

Is this a trick question?

I think so. As what I spend isn't necessarily what I need to take place of my cigarettes.

You have the initial cost that includes the hardware needed to vape whether it be an e-cig or a mod. Can be pricey but I feel you save later as they last a while before needing replaced if cared for properly.

Then you have the cost of carts and juices to replace the cigarette addiction each month. Which is waaaaay more than half of what I used to spend for 4 cartons of smokes per month...and I usually smoked more than that 2-5pk a day smoker. Waaay cheaper

Then you have the cost of "things you want but don't really NEED" The hobby end so to speak.

I limit my spending to what I spent on cigarettes. I do not allow myself to go over that. I usually go way under. What I have left (What I spent on smokes)-(what I spend now to vape)= Money for me to play with in any way I choose. Sometimes I spend it on vaping, sometimes on my kids, I plan on taking a portion of my savings at some point to get a laptop for me.

So if this question is to see what the equivalent is to spending on smokes one has to limit it to (Initial spending for hardware)+(carts and juice to get through a month) and compare that to what is spent on smokes. Otherwise it really isn't a comparison cause smoking just isn't a hobby and all you need is a lighter and a smoke. And smokes don't come in a million and one flavors to try out either.

And My extra money even if it goes toward my new hobby/addiction is money well spent as I am saving my health. Lower insurance, better health equals more money in our pockets for food, bills, and fun. Just my .02 cents

Having been in it (Vaping) for just over a month or so. I began cheap with some Kgos and Egos but quickly decided that this was for me and went with 2 high end Mods $$$ and all the stuff for DIY liquids (for a year or two) and rebuildable atomizers (with all the materials to rebuild)... Up front cost, around a grand for everything... But in the future I would be on the low end of the scale...

Cost as compared to what I used to spend on 'Boros' and cigars? Hmmm... Well I used to live in Vermont, my wife a non-smoker hated it so I built a heated 2 story 'Man-Cave' on our property... Cost? Are you kidding me? Now I sit in the office with my wife right across from me at a partners desk and vape away while we "play" on the internet... She's happy, I'm elated... how much is that worth?
