Well... so far it has not saved me a dime! Now I am no way saying that its not worth it. I love my e cig.:hubba: Anything to help me stop smoking is woth it. I was paying $150 a month for chantix. So any way, before vaping I was trying to cut back and was down to 3 to 4 packs a week. At $3.00 to $3.50 a pack that put me between $9.00 to $14.00 a week. So Far I'm on week 4 I think.. and have spent around $110.00. I waiting for the time to come when all I buy is e liquid. Now I understand that this is just the "so called up front fee's" but I am really looking forward to the time when I start saving money. I wondering how others are doing in the long run... as far as their bank account goes that is....

Although up in the north east, our packs are now 8.06 And considering I bought two sets of kits and a bunch of sampler ejuices, and some additional spares, I've been analog free for 31 days, I broke even yesterday! So today I am just starting my savings point....but not for nothing, it is WAY better than smoking, I can vape in the house, in bed watching tv, stealth in work, where ever, there are so many flavors to try and great fun....so that being said....LOL....I'm starting to save money today....woo hoo! I was spending (and I'm SURE it was more than a pack a day some days, I'd get a pack in the a.m. and a pack later that night, so some days 16 bucks!)about 225 a month on cigs! OUCH....wished I found this YEARS ago...

I started making my own cigarettes with an injector machine about 2 1/2 years ago. That said my 30 cig a day habit cost me about $20 a week even after fed taxes skyrocketed last year. So I'm NOT saving any money. I am however extremely pleased with the tradeoff despite not saving money. I wouldn't go back to cigarettes if they cost $.50 a pack.

If you think about it, the deciding factor is how much you smoked, not how much you vape.

For example, I started vaping 8 weeks ago and I've spent $400 so far. (That includes 3 different e-cigs, so I wasted quite a lot before I found the Ego). I spent $70 a week on analogs, so right now, I'm ahead.

The cost of basic equipment to vape is actually fairly constant. If you hit it lucky first time and get a decent PV + juice, you can get away with spending $100. If you spent $20 a week on cigs, it'll take you 5 weeks to recoup the cost. If (like me) you spent $70 a week, then 10 days will do it.

Once you have your PV, other than replacement parts, the juice is the main thing, and even if you vape a lot, you probably won't spend that much more on juice than a light vaper.

But apart from all that, you can't put a price on your health.

You have saved alot my friend..

Look at it this way, God forbids if you have continued to smoke analogs and something has developed in your system with the chemicals and toxic that reg cig's produces you would have to spend ten of thousands of dollars in medical bills.

But further more shop around more often as in looking at some good prices the best e-cig in market was always the joye 510 and now it's been upgraded using ego i seen many suppliers whom sell ego for $55 (Health Cabin) and e-lquids come cheap for 10 bucks a bottle that last u for days from Johnson Creek.

I love this movie... :pop: It's my favorite comedy...... :pop:

Seriously, $3.50 per pack? $9.00 - $14.00 per week? That wasn't bad. Here it's like $6.00 per pack. Anyway...

DIY saves money. Box mods (esp DIY if you solder) save money. Still need atties, batts, chargers and tips tho.

Vaping SHOULD be safer tho. What's your health worth? I feel for ya 'cuz I'm broke. All I can say is DIY. Look for usa juice sales. Oh, and COUPON CODES.

Good luck dude.

The juice IS my main expense now. I'm a heavy user. Add to that the cost of cartomizers (my choice due to lifestyle primarily) and replacements (bought 2 new 900ma eGo batts last week after 1 failed) and my day to day costs are actually higher than my cigarette costs were. I'm not taking into account any possible healthcare cost savings as they haven't been realized yet if ever and cannot be accurately calculated.

In the long term, I'm saving over $100 a month, even though I was smoking cheap cigarettes, BUT I keep buying stuff, so even though I may be stocked for a couple of years and even though I came within 1 day of breaking even recently, I ordered more stuff. I think now I have 14 more days until I break even. I can't believe I actually made it this time to only having 1 more day left before buying more.

As I stated potential healthcare cost savings cannot be accurately calculated. I am talking strictly of up-front money spent. I started with a 510 - it's a great pv. But for me the battery life was too short even using the xl batts. I'm not in a position to be carrying around, using and recharging batts all day. Hence the eGo. Juice is subject to the tastes of the user. I have some cheaper juice that I like but I also have more expensive juice that I like. One single juice choice starts to wear thin after a while. Trust me. If I were to order some of every juice from every supplier out there trying to find a less expensive alternative I'd be out many more bucks. I've already been that route and have juices lying around that I'll probably only use in an emergency.

I'm not complaining! I'm only stating my own experience and based on that I'm not saving any money in day to day costs vs. smoking.

I don't doubt it. But how much more is your juice costing you than a light vaper's juice? Say it's 3x as much. I imagine we're still talking (at a wild guess) $30-50 a month against someone who vapes less spending say, $10-20 a month.

My point was that once you've bought the hardware, juice IS the main expense. But it's not that high when you compare it to analogs.

Edit - Just saw your new post where you explain your juice buying. So you are spending more on juice than cigs. Ok. Fair enough.

I used to roll my own for years and always went back and forth between. It was def the cheaper way to go. I agree 100% trade off is def worth it.

All in all I think I started out probably about as cheap as anyone could. I paid 39.99 for a double JOYE510 kit. I just bought a RIVA double kit for 29.99 plus 5 dollar shipping. I've spent about 30.00 on e liquid in the last four weeks, so I am definately taking my time to get the best prices I can. I am hoping after this riva upgrade, I'll be done buying ecigs other than accessories as needed. Oh and I got a mod box from the pay it forward so I'll spend 20.00 on a charger and batteries for that so it should really cut down on price in the long run. All in all I definatly think that DIY is going to be my biggest money saver for juice in the long run. And yes of course you can't put a price on your health so all in all its worth it in that aspect.

I've gotten pretty settled into my comfort zone with equipment. My next leap may well be the DIY route as well. My intentions are two fold - saving a little money and preparing for a possible ban. But the real upside is in the possibility of discovering the nirvana juice recipe!

Here in Washington, I was paying about $8 or so for a pack of smokes. I smoked about 2 packs a day, I did the math and it came to around $393 a month. On average since I quit in May and excluding my initial starter kit, I spend about $80 a month on Vaping. So I save around $313 a month vaping. And it's healthier to boot, can't beat that :)

One thing about my problem with breaking even is that I'm counting everything I've spent that is vaping related, like Fluval, syringes, even Crest Pro Health mouthwash that I hardly used at all.

OMG I have 2 huge bottles of pro health and used one capful to clean one atty and then figured well, I can use it myself and it taste nasty LOL.
