The one thing I almost overlooked that is a huge suck on your wallet is shinyitis. I’ve been able to control myself in order to save money but there are many out there who suffer and struggle daily with this debilitating disease. I’ve been able to control my shinyitis by living vicariously through members on this forum who haven’t had as much luck as I’ve had dealing with this scourge on the vape world. All you can do is talk about it with others who suffer from it and do like I do and look at pictures of others mod collections when the shinyitis cravings are the worst and just be strong. Together we can beat this and I hope one day we can live in a world where each and every one of us can get by with just one mod. :nun::nun::nun:

Everyone else missed it - Don't continue purchasing the latest tank and or MOD that comes along

While savings from DIY juice and coils add up quickly, whatever those savings are can easily be eaten by "shinnyitus" (new gear).
Shinyitis is what blew my vape budget the first year or so. Find a setup that works, and be happy, don't worry about what everyone else says is the greatest (Whatever), just get something that works and be happy, you will save a lot of money. :)

If you want to vape as cheaply as possible you want 1 mod, 1 rebuildable tank, and 1 (single non-complex) flavor (I vape Wintergreen). Buy a 100ft spool of your favorite wire, a large bag of cotton pads, and the stuff to DIY your juice. Be sure to hunt around for the absolute best prices for EVERY THING. For instance I buy 1 gal of VG for $13 and 1 gal of PG for $19. Also Amazon sells the wire and cotton MUCH cheaper than any vaping site. It costs me pennies a day now for vaping. I am not sure the exact price but I am pretty certain it's somewhere less than a dime a day.

I buy a new setup (mod, batteries, and tank) about every 2 years. I do LOTS (weeks) of research before buying, and buy something that will last. My savings from quitting smoking is more than $10,000 so far (AFTER subtracting what I have spent on vaping).

I have to admit.... I like a little more variety than that. Okay, a lot more variety. I'm sure my savings are less, but I'm pretty set for now except I'm not going to say that as every time I DO? I wind up buying something. But, I'm still saving, and vaping happy, and that's what matters, to me. I will freely admit that the fun of trying a new tank/mod or flavors (I DIY) is part of the fun of vaping that keeps me from cigarettes (though, I will say, I was certainly monotonous on those, 3 ppd same cigs, same filters, same loose tobacco. I never "varied it up" LOL.

I could not find a new thread (i am danish, so sorry for the spelling) about saving money, so i thougt it would be great if we could make one together.. So if you have any tips regarding how to save money, please write a post and I will later gather all the tips here in this post (if that is possible).
I am stil new and have a lot to learn, so if you have some input it would be much appreciated..
Questions: Is VG lasting longer than PG? Can coils be cleaned and how? Will a high VG liquid make your coils last longer, or if you smoke with low wattage?
"Is VG lasting longer than PG?"
Propylene Glycol: C3-H8-O2, while Vegetable Glycerin: C3-H5-(OH)3. (PG has 2 free Oxygen molecules)
PG boiling point is 188.2 celsius, VG bp is 290 celsius.
Great question. Looks like PG will vaporize at a lower temperature than VG.
"Can coils be cleaned and how?"
Yes, there are many ways to clean coils. The method I like, is heat to and glow, and dip (RDA) in water a couple of times. The thermal shock tends to loosen and shed coil incrustations.
"Will a high VG liquid make your coils last longer, or if you smoke with low wattage?"
VG vs PG and coil life: The property coil material temperature differences are extremely small when compared to the temperatures applied to the material during vaporizing. I would suspect the amount of heat would have more bearing upon the coil material life than the different boiling point of these two liquids.
"So if you have any tips regarding how to save money,"
I vape only with RDA's. Magma --simple 2 post and Origen V1 & V3 ---PITA 3 post build but flavor is equal to Magma. Cost effective in initial cost, maintenance, durability and unbeatable flavor.
Battery: I like the Eleaf Istick 40 TC. for min. watts (6.6-7.? depending on juice and wick age).
E-Liquid: DIY mixes only, not one shot.

We all know it's about building your own coils and making your own juice. Both of which.. I simply don't have the time and interest for. I've been vaping now close to 2 years now and have only wrapped and wicked about a dozen or so coils, Half of which leaked all over the place.. while I've NEVER had a premade coil leak, hence why I've given up.

When I simply can't afford my Juice and my TFV8 and BBB beast coils, then and only then will I look into it again. To be totally honest though.. I think I will have quit vaping by that point so it isn't going to matter much.

Another money saving trick if you aren't ready to DIY or if you have a juice that you just really enjoy then buy your juice with extra flavor and at double the nicotine and mix it 50/50 with VG to double the volume. VG is cheap to buy and when you mix it and steep it, I doubt you'll notice much of a flavor difference.

If you don't want to DIY juice, the most affordable site I have found for juice is mtbakervapor.com You can get 230ml for like $35.

Hmmm......

I used to be a regular purchaser at MBV, but when they instituted their age verification system (wanted more info then I wanted to supply), I thought they also dropped their large bottle option, but offered multiple 30ml bottles with a discount (was still not as cheap as the 230ml price). Sounds like they are selling their large bottles again, but have they backed down on their age verification requirements?

Thanks.

I stopped buying from them when they discontinued Wintergreen flavor and started DIY. I did get an email from them recently stating they had started selling big bottles again. I will say this only applies to their in house flavors. They also sell other brands of liquid and those prices/sizes are fixed based on their respective manufacturers.

Since I rebuild and DIY my own juice, my vaping costs me less then a buck a day, and that`s for two people. Since I prefer mech`s and cloned mech`s are dirt cheap, I can afford one or two mechs or toppers a month and not spend more then 40-50 bucks most of the time. Considering my smoking was costing me 200-300 a month (would be more now, LOL), I don`t feel any guilt whatsoever in what I spend on it. Its my one vice and I spend less on it then a subscription or even coffee. So I don`t care about costs, it cant possibly get any cheaper. :?)

I will say I think of purchases and costs differently than most people. Most people think the purchase price is the only cost of buying something. I see it as there being two costs to everything you buy, the purchase price and the "opportunity cost" (everything else you COULD have spent that money on). So when making a purchasing decision, I always weigh both costs and make sure my dollars are spent as wisely as possible.

When we first got married my wife used to $10 me to death. Constantly buying odds, ends, gadgets, and garbage we didn't really need and kept saying "but it only cost $10". So I started a list of all these items she was buying for 6 months or so. Then one day I collected it all in a large closed box and sat it in the living room floor. I called my wife in and asked her what she would buy if she had $2000. She was like "Ohh we need a new washer and dryer". So I dumped the box out into the floor, and said "Well this is what you got instead". That hit home and she got the message. All those "cheap" needless purchases are lost opportunities to save up for something big you REALLY want. Since then she has gotten a LOT better. Of course there are always going to be some slips and that's OK but now we are able to save and get some really nice "big ticket" items that we really want.
