I don't think about it… I just subconsciously vape as much as I need. At 24 mg/ml, that's about 6 ml/day. At 18, it comes out about 8 ml/day. I suspect if I went to 12, it would be 12 ml per day… if my throat could take it.

Yep. Nic-o-stat working well there.

You CAN consciously cut back over time if you choose. Sometimes it may even happen naturally. But in the end, it's the "what works for you" thing.

To be fair, the search function here isn't that good.

It's easier to plug one's question into Google and follow the links from there - which usually take one to this site...LOL

Sad thing is it used to be. I had the benefit of the old search function when I first joined. I still miss it. Those phrase searches were great. Yes, I agree with you. I go to Google with phrases and they direct me here usually. :)

OP: Buy some zero nic in the same higher nic juice you like and mix it to fit your body's demands.

It is undoubtedly an issue with the forum software. I've had a number of message boards "improve" themselves out of functionality.

You trade some valuable upgrades for some useful tools with each version. Too bad we can't get everything we want every time....lol

In a few more weeks you probably won't even be thinking about it. Remember when I said I have a bunch of different nic levels around here? I still do, and I don't even really notice much difference when I change out my juices - unless I'm dripping. THEN I notice right away.

Other than that, though, time will fix your issue for you, I'm almost sure.

What is the difference between vaping and dripping? I admit I am ignorant..being a newbee and all.

Someone's going to ask, it may as well be me.

So let's say you just quit cigs, you're vaping 24mg, it makes you feel a little bit light-headed but kind of gives you the 'hit' you get from smoking. Now you're moving down to 18 which is fine it's the natural step down. But you're vaping all the time. You don't get that heady hit from the 24 so you vape a lot more.

This is a really simple question. What is the friggin point of 'stepping down' from let's say 24mg to 18 when you don't get the same hit at all and you are constantly chasing it and quite possibly taking in ten times more nic to satisfy yourself?

This isn't a challenge I'm just asking why some people give amazing success stories about starting off at 24 then moving down to 12 or even 6. 18 vaguely pacifies me, but not the same as 24 which is an 'instant hit' but it also makes me anxious and scared and I don't know why.

Am I one of those people who will never find a happy balance? It feels like it at the moment.

I read an article today in Scientific American about smoking cessation which included ecigs..and the comments were AWESOME

And they spoke of reducing their nicotine from 24mg..even 36mg to 18mg then to 6mg..and some were at 0mg..and I had just ordered a BUNCH of liquid at 24mg and thought I should step down...

Now I have only been vaping for about a month...so I think I should stay there as long as I am satisfied...finish up this batch...then get one at 18mg to see how that works out...

I smoked too many cigarettes per day for too many years to risk my quitting on something so inane as to how many mg of nicotine I vape at any given time....if I have to use 24mg till I die...so be it...I will try to step down..but if I find it uncomfortable I will go right back up.

I have no plans to step down from 24mg (although I DO dilute when I drip!). I don't have a schedule, a plan, or a target date. I probably will start buying a few 18mg juices, just because, but I'm not fretting over being unable to step down. If it happens, it happens.

Shoot, I'm just pleased that I'm not smoking!

I highly recommend getting some 18 while you still have the 24 as a security blanket. You may find, as do I, you vape more of the 18 than you do the 24. I normally vape 24 mg 50/50 DIY, but when I order expensive premium juices, I do that in 18 for a couple of reasons. One is I'm vaping it for enjoyment, rather than just nicotine, and like that the lower nic makes/lets me vape it more. Another is because these tend to come in 70/30 or even higher PG, which increases the throat hit, so I back that back down with the lower nic. You don't have to have one or the other... you can have both on hand.

This is my vaping philosophy really. I also don't see the point in stepping down (for me) cuz I will just vape more since I'm not getting the kind of hit I get with 24mg.

HST more of my juices are 18 than 24 now. For home use I like 18 because I tend to vape more when watching TV, on the computer or reading & I was getting a headache from chain vaping. The evod tank I use gives a good amount of TH so I'm fairly satisfied in that way but I don't get the huge hit of nicotine to go with it with the 18 so I CAN vape more.

When I'm out & about I still like to use 24mg though. When I'm out doing things I don't like to think about vaping so I want a good nicotine fix when I take a drag so I can get back to what I'm doing. If I use 18 in my car for example I'll chain vape in the car, which I don't like, because the nicotine calms me down & the high dose is what I'm after & not the habit.

So yea, I guess that sums it up. At home I vape for the "habit" so I use a lower nicotine dose. When out I do it for the nicotine fix so higher is better.

You said it! That's the type of scheme that's worked best for me. I take a carto with 24mg with me "out and about". 18mg at home for a morning "wake up". 12mg for flavor and relaxing in the evening.

The few times I've tracked, I always end up at 30 to 36mg nic a day, 6ml x 6mg/ml = 3ml x 12 mg/ml = 2ml x 18mg/ml = 1.5 x 24 mg/ml = 36mg. Amazing thing that built-in nicostat !
