How often and how much?

12 days now with my 510. I was just wondering if this was normal? I am using 18mg fluid, It seems I have to top off my cart after every vape break I take at work. My breaks are 10 minutes or so and I vape while others smoke their analogs. I seem to get pretty good vapor the whole 5 - 10 minutes, but seems to get a kind of burnt taste towards the end. Maybe I am taking too many hits too quick? Just seems odd to have to add 2 - 4 drops before each vape break?

It may not have enough time to wick the liquid into the vaporizer. You might try keeping it in your pocket LED end down, or shaking the liquid down like you would shake a thermometer. I use 2 510's alternately when vaping continuously for any extended period.

Try one of the PTB (pyramid tea bag) mods listed in the mods forum. I tried it and found it produces MUCH more vapor and holds a lot more juice than the cruddy filling that comes with your carts. You won't have to add juice nearly as often.

The burnt taste towards the end is lack of juice and like rjp says there hasn't been time to wick back up to the top of the cart. You can extend that time with a cart mod which allows more fluid on top offs:

.. and you can get a few more minutes by putting one or two drops on the atty bridge just as your fill up for your break. No more than a few drops or you'll flood it then waste time on your break blowing it out. In fact just 1 drop should get you the time you need.

And that is why over six months ago I went to drip vaping. I never liked the polyester to begin with (somethink not right about vaping that stuff I always thought to myself) and couple of drops last a cigarettes worth. I have also seen no shorting of the life span of my atomizers whatsoever.

A lot of people say the 510s are only good for a few puffs at a time, and I notice that even when I've got a full cart (filled down to the bottom, not just floating on top). One thing that helps get a few more puffs before needing to "rest" the unit is either tapping it on a knee (LED end down), or holding it near the cart and flicking it, like shaking an old-fashioned thermometer to get the mercury down. Either one will put a little more liquid at the tip of the cart near the atty.

I will try the shaking or alternating 2 at a time, would do the drip thing but others may really look at me strange then.

Heat makes the juice flow, so sometimes you can just hold it LED down and press the button for a few seconds. That can often get more juice to flow around the bridge. Also, I use something like the PTB fill (scent-free eyeglass cleaning tissues, rolled up like the PTB) with the straw mod. But yes, in general, the 510 needs topping off relatively often.
