How often do you change out your coil

I use the readyxwick and have only changed it once, only because I pulled it and tried to torch it thinking it would clean it better. I torched it to death, because it crumbled when I tried to put it back in coil. Since then ive just been rinsing and dry burning the wick and coil together. I guess the wick will let me know when it needs changing

I just love lower gauge wire because how forgiving it is to use. My favorite is 26 with 28 being my next favorite. I found 30 and 32 gauge just to difficult to work with. I've busted legs just trying to mount coils made from the higher gauge wire not to mention ruining my coils wicking or rewicking them. I just don't have the patience to try and work with higher gauge wire anymore besides I think the vape from the lower gauge wire is better.

I regret having tossed a coil made from 26 gauge that was going on 4 months of use. I just knew after that much time it "needed" changing. I've learned a lot since then.

If I build a awesome coil it stays on my rda forever lol. Just some dry burn and it looks as good as new. The wick I replace depending on my vape every 2 days if it's cotton.

This question isn't for those that like to change coils to try out different juices, or just likes to build, but for those that like a certain resistance and vape it consistently. I like my 1ohm microcoil. I've had it in my grand since I bought it. Is there a time limit where every so often you change coils regardless of how it's performing, do you run it until it pops, or can you tell when a coil is getting weak? Do they even get weak? Need a little help. As far as I know my coil is working fine but I've been using it like three weeks or so. Haven't been using rebuildable rdas that long and this is the first set up that ive been happy enough with to leave it alone. Needing to know at what point I need to build another 1ohm and replace it.

I had a coil last me 4 months on my Chalice until one day I tried brushing it while it was still hot (bad idea)...broke a leg. I was actually kind of sad...

Anyway, the BEST way I found to clean a coil is like this:
Remove wick
Dry burn for a few seconds, get the coil red hot, then STOP
Let it cool, I usually blow on it to speed it up..(very important)
Rinse under running water
Blow off most of the water
Dry burn again, the remaining water helps steam the gunk off (very important)

Repeat all steps again.

+1 for the dry burn and water rinse to remove all gunk from coils. Before I knew about this I was replacing coils like every week or so, but I was also experimenting with different gauges and coil wrapping technics, plus the REO was like brand new and I was just excited to have it, I literally wanted to try every coil I saw on YT.

I change it every two to three weeks. 28 gauge Kanthal with 3mm ReadyXwick. I dry burn every few days as well.

My current coil is going on 4 months, I run 1ohm, 28g coils and dry burn them every couple of days, change KGD cotton daily.
