I'm not into changing coils just for the sake of fooling around. I used to do that, when I started rebuilding, but not so much anymore. When I get a new device, I'll try a couple different builds on it; but once I get it the way I want, I leave it alone, except for maintenance dry burns, or re wicks, if I'm using cotton.

Usually I dont change it out too often unless I'm not a huge fan of the build. I just got a nemesis clone in my vape mail yesterday so when I went to that from my genuine 69 it was night and day. The clone was hitting so much harder that the wicking could not keep up so I had to rebuild... now sitting at work I think I did just a few coils too many so I'll go home tonight and rebuild. Once things are the way I like it I just leave it to maintenance every few days or so and keep it for around a month and then rebuild. Cotton is great for re-wicking, so easy :)

I usually only change out the coil when I want to try something different. Rarely is there a time that the coil is replaced because of need. Have a few coils that have been vaping great for a couple months now, with no need of rebuilding. I get several weeks out of the wick before needing to change and dry burn the coil. Much depends on the build, wick material, and wicking method. My through the coil builds require more frequent maintenance than around the coil wicks for some reason.
