Sub-ohm coils and cotton wick - how often to change?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered a million times so far, but an hour of searching and I haven't had very productive results.

I'm wondering if it's typical to change out the cotton wick, or the wick and coiles once a week or less? It seems frustrating to me to have to change it out so frequently. I'm currently dripping on a Vape Smith Castle RDA at .6 ohms to .8 ohms. My coils seem to get gunked up and start to shed the black coating my coils get onto them in about a weeks time and it no longer hits as well as the fresh coil and wick did at the begininng of the week. I'm also using Mister-e-liquid Grey Matter at 9mg nicotine and 20% VG.

Any help or advice would be great! Thanks for all the help in advance!

If you're getting a week that's pretty good, only takes a few minutes to dry burn and change out a wick if you're using a micro coil so that's not bad at all.

As far as an average time that depends on alot of things. I've got some clear non sweet juices I can go indefinitely before changing the wick, I've also done a dark coffee flavor that gunked up so bad it was unvapable almost immediately. The juice and wattage are factors but others come in to play also.

I prepare alot of wicks at once, that way when I need one just pick it out of the box and done, saves time and it's easier than messing with a bag of cotton balls or pads every time I need a wick.

Not much to add to Nomoreash's post. Coils can last for a few months with reasonable care. Wicks on the other hand can last from hours to a week or more.

You don't say what you're using to build your .6~.8Ω coils. There are optimal builds for every resistance - if your build is on the "cold" side... residue/caramelization can build faster.

Heat flux/dwell time and surface area are all as important as resistance when building coils.
