I've seen it mentioned here before, but is anything special required to "blow out" an atomizer? Like one end versus the other or covering the hole or anything? After a couple months we are still on our original atomizers but we've got a bunch stockpiled and the original ones are just now starting to have some issues.

You left out the choice of "Never". I think I may be the only one on here that never cleans an atomizer. Never had a need to. I've never had one fail in 4 months either and I pretty much only use 2 at a time. One on a USB all day and one on an SD all night.

That's pretty amazing when you consider how many failures are reported here.
Do you have some secret there?

After the testing I have completed, I think a viable, safe, cost effective, and easy cleaner is within reach--just need a little more time and then I will post results up close and personal because a lot of this Cleaning is either to harsh or simply does not work --that is if we are talking about getting the residue off the coil----postings and photos to come very soon---Sun

Anxious to see what you come up with Sun. Hopefully you'll take some of the suffering out of this whole thing.

I simmer in boiling water then dry. Then hook it up to 5v DC on the terminals to burn off the black residue on the element using 30 second burst with a cool down in between. Then I sprinkle a few crystals of caustic soda directly into the bridge/element core of the atomizer and a dribble of hot water (a few drops really) to dissolve the caustic soda then let sit for a while this loosens the ash (was once a hard black reside) off the element. Then rinse thoroughly followed by a bath of 50% white vinegar in water, this neutralizes all traces of the caustic soda. Final rinse and dry and it works like new again!
