How popular do you think electronic cigarettes are going to become?

I started vaping in 2010 and it's caught on a lot since then...not as much as I thought it would though. I see them a lot more often and instead of being asked "what is that thing?", now people ask if it's "one of those electronic cigarettes". I think that one reason they haven't really caught on is that they might get a bad rap from the gas station e-cigs that claim one carto is a pack of smokes and the battery lasts all of 10 minutes.

Including myself, i know three people who quit smoking using PVs. I know about twelve people who failed to quit using the little e-cigs. Its really a shame those cheapos are still around. I think there are some that work ok but not from the mall or 7-11.

Unfortunately, the future of vaping will be in the hands of the government. If you havent submitted your comments on vaping to the FDA you need to think about it

There will HOPEFULLY be no more people smoking tobaccco in 10 years. It has been brought up in this thread already, but I will add to this discussion. The forum has been buzzing with talk of the FDA banning e-cigarettes in April of this year. I am pleading with every new vaper reading this, PLEASE visit this thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...2013-e-cigarettes-other-tobacco-products.html and do your best to get involved in the fight against the FDA's deeming regulations against vaping electronic cigarettes. We are the front lines in this battle. YOU, reading this, YOU are a soldier. So please click the link above and get involved to the best of your ability to keep e-cigarette use, sale, & our lifestyle, LEGAL.

In a true free society, we wouldn't have to put up with stuff like this. What's with this trend of the Federal Government becoming the nanny for the populace? That isn't it's function. The FDA is controlled by profit anyways....not profit to the FDA, but I'll leave it to the imagination.

There will, at some point, be a news story about people dying from vaping e-liquid laced with heavy metals or something similar. You have to admit that it's a possibility at least.

That's where the fda enters the picture. It might be a false flag op or not but you'll be happy to pay a little more for your juice knowing that it's not going to kill you.

Do you really have any idea where your liquids have been or how they've been handled? Remember the chinese melamine/pet food debacle? Lead in baby toys, etc?

I write this as i'm vaping from my ego-t a delicious chocolate covered cherry juice while enjoying a machiatto made from freshly roasted (roasted myself) ethiopian expresso.

The way i say it, when the tech gets there and and the most efficient devices can get really small and unobtrusive. And vaping can completely simulate the effect of smoking with said devices, there really would be no reason to still smoke or have analogs. They may even make normal tobacco smoking illegal.

Im glad my mods do not mimic a cigarette. Personally I think its a good thing the cig a likes are poor performers. I am a Vapor not a smoker I do not need to have a cigarette hanging from my mouth. I know they have to be the same to start off with. I would not have bought a Provari my first day. Id of laughed at you about RBAs hybrids pay 100- 200 + to do it my self are you mad???? but as you get off of the cigarettes and more in to vaping cigarettes looking and tasting stuff becomes less and less attractive.

It is impossible for me to answer this question until the FDA proposes their "deeming regulations" sometime in April.

If they bring the hammer down, I suspect electronic cigarettes will become nothing more than a novelty product.
If they formulate reasonable regulations with public health in mind, electronic cigarettes could surpass real cigarettes within a decade.

My concern is we'll be getting less reason and more hammer.

Suspicious mind, that is not all these regulations are about. Please follow my link above to learn more.

I read both links and i see no mention of e-cigs...only smokeless tobacco, which i interpret as snuff, snus, chewing tobacco, etc. it could be that they're thinking e-cigs in this regulation...i could well be wrong though.

I've only been vaping a week now but, i'm converted from forty years of marlboro reds at 1.5 packs a day already. I'm a bigtime advocate for pv and have converted one longtime smoker already.

I'll be on the front lines to keep these things available and advancing the technology (i'm an engineer).

If they outlaw them, i'll invent a mod based on an led flashlight and a juice recipe using supermarket ingredients...we'll survive somehow!

A doctor did a study simulating the spread of VP usage in a country that supports them and another that did not with negative press. In both cases at about ten years a majority of analog smokers turned to VP devices. The only difference was with the country that showed support the curve up in usage started around 4 years as more and more people converted. In the scenario with no support, so that people are mis-informed, the curve up in use did not start noticably until around year 7 and then spiked greatly. If the Dr.'s scenario is correct in another 4 years correct information will his the majority of people's ears and three years after that analog use will drop dramatically.

That is definitely not true for everyone though.
Just take a look at buzz over the NJoy Kings for example.
:)
agreed there can never be a 100% when it comes to what someone likes and dose not like. Im willing to bet the majority of people who like the NJOY KING are 6 month or less Vapors I bet more than half of the Vapors out there are less than 6 months at this point in time. My thoughts are the more we get away from cigalikes even egos since they resemble a pen the more we will be in public favor. The biggest hurdle at this time is as you said the FDA and getting the proper information out there. The good thing is as we grow we all have family and friends who see the positive results threw us so they have a positive opinion when someone says something negative they know better.

I am telling every smoker I know about vaping. I already got my son in law off cigs. I gave him my volt kit and he was amazed. I am going to add my voice and do what I can to help.

Me too. I have converted 2 so far to full time vaping. I thought I had two converted but they refused to use anything other than a cig-alike and swore e-cigs don't work. One of them is coming around. She wants a bolt. My goal is to have at least 80% of the smokers in my unit converted. The way I see it, vaping is healthier, so it's really a combat readiness thing.

I don't think they will get very far with the masses until they can make them last longer and are less expensive. I have heard so many people say oh yeah I tried one of those things they last about an hour or they are junk don't waste your money. The people who become successful are those that realize the possibilities and search further.
