The govt (feds, state and local) has lost and will continue to lose tax revenue as smokers switch over to vaping. They need money - so the only logical thing that can and will happen (IMO) is to somehow tax our products. A well known internet company (lets call it "A") as well all know is charging sales tax in a few states and will soon be taxing sales to all states. Now - I dont like paying taxes - but tax is an necessary evil - no point in getting into why. Plus "A" by not charging sales tax was great for us as consumers - but not only were the states losing revenue - but "A" was also putting a lot of other similar companies out of business (lower price by not charging tax) but the states lost a lot of revenue. Feds can easily impose a tax on all our products sold by US companies by making them include it in the sales price - just like we pay on gasoline and smokers do on cigs. States - well that is a different issue. A company located in CA for example does not have to charge sales tax on items shipped to say TX - unless they have nexus (store front, sales ppl - some type of presence). States have been talking to each other and the Feds to come up with a way to make internet sales taxable even if a company does not have nexus. I believe it is called Streamlined Sales tax - nothing has happened so far. But with they way we buy online - something is bound to happen - so sales tax will be coming too. I agree with Eric - most things should not be taxed by the Feds under current law - but they can change it. I foresee tax (both Fed and State) being imposed e juice and Nicotine liquid. I dont like paying more - dang havent gotten a raise in 3 years - IMO it is coming. The only question I have is how much tax......vaping is safer than smoking - what if they tax it so high that some of us wont be able to afford it? I dont want to go back to smoking. That will the time for us to call congressmen/women and senators and start our movement like them wall Street folks...

Yep. Regulation and tax are coming. Especially since a big tobacco player is in the game.

We haven't heard anything lately because of the elections but......the FDA is coming. Count on it.

There's also pressure to ban it all together. Think about the hardcore anti tobacco crowd and big pharma(nic patches).

Yup I'm worried about them taxing my nicotine base. Worse thing would be regulating it :(

I think the big danger is the FDA regs they are supposed to be coming out with at any time may make it prohibitively expensive for anyone except big tobacco companies to market nicotine.

Something like $1MM to get certified as a nicotine distributor or some other nonsense. That way they throw a bone to big tobacco and strike some deal that they can tax it at an equivalent nicotine level - like alcohol is taxed.

Also, probably limits on flavors - Tobacco/Menthol only, no sales of liquid nicotine, only in carts, probably very limited selection of batteries, the end of retail mod sales, etc.

So, once Blu proves the market for the other big tobacco companies, the deal will be struck between big tobacco and FDA, I fear. Then the end of the joy.

Damn, I need to freeze some nic juice soon.

Remember like I said, all we need is the nic juice. Everything else they can't regulate.

I'd hate to have to buy bootleg nic lol. I doubt I could learn now to extract it myself.

Yeah, Nic is the key, obviously.

But if they control the nic, they can control the delivery system too, because they can limit right of distribution to big tobacco and big tobacco would love to have a standardized product they can mass produce cheaply and not have competition, thus generating high margins. So, they and the FDA would both be on board for limiting options, i.e. no liquid, carts only, only prefilled carts. They may clash on flavors, but FDA would win on that.

Certainly, internet sales are going to be one of the first to go, and that is fine with big tobacco, because they already have a massive retail distribution network, again, no competition.

And, really once all this takes place, all the places we buy products now are going to have no choice but shut down, because people won't be able to get their nicotine from them, and who will buy a mod if there is no liquid juice to vape with?

This may be why FDA is delaying the regs that they have been promising for over a year. They are negotiating with big tobacco, big tobacco is sizing up sales through Blu and figuring out what they can compromise with.

Sure, there may be people out there putting together mods on a small scale for people who extract their own nic but the days of clicking on "add to cart" are coming to an end I am afraid.

I would rather see the njoy kings everywhere. If people would try that disposable before the blu they would understand that this can be done. It is good to see the tv advertisements and posters though. Any publicity is good publicity unless its a poorly modified ecig blowing up in someones face and all you here is "exploding ecigs blows mans teeth out"

to post on the other way this thread is going. We arent hurting big tobacco as vapers. We still consume nicotine and they control the production of nicotine. Imagine you were a tobacco company and you could just sell nicotine and not pay the overhead for producing cigarettes, packaging, wages, excessive shipping, regulatory fees, lawsuits etc, etc. Thats a whole lot more money in their pockets and the users will live longer and purchase longer.

FDA can come on. I will vape 0nic and make my juice if it comes down to it. The FDA will let tobacco sell their products and pharma to sell thier junk knowing what kind of success rate those have. How does something with suicide as a side effect get approved?!!

Sorry just lost myself and went on a rant!

Yep just seeing ecigs going semi mainstream its a good thing imo.
i hope that it is a good thing as well, I really do, I hate they way that they smell, the fact that they are so addicting, that "all the cool kids are doing it" and oh yeah that they KILL you! So, since i was a smoker, it would be great if all of my smoker friends and family switched so that they could live longer. But, yeah I could see that if they regulated the eliquid they would keep it in tobacco, light, menthol, and menthol light.... they have this idea that children are going to want to vape, but mind you having green apple cigars and blunt wraps is ok, oh and cake flavored vodka is just fine too

and blunt wraps

True story: I was hanging out with my neighbor, whom I hadn't known very long. He asked me to drive to the gas station, gave me a few bucks, and and said, "Go get White Out."

Awkwardly I went into the gas station and looked up and down for White Out. There was none.

I went back to the car empty handed and said, "They didn't have any White Out."

"Wha, main? I didn't say White Out. I said White Owl!"

"Ohhhh! THAT's why they didn't have Grape White Out!"

It's a nerd thing me and my friends have. Whenever we see Stephen Dorff we always refer to him as Lamagra the Blood God. Very, very nerdy.

I learn something new every day heh. I have no Idea who that guy is, seen him first time on the commercial.
