How quickly can I minimize my mg strength?

So I had been smoking light cigs on and off for 22 years. Recently at the rate of 1/2-3/4 pks/day. A little over a week ago, I switched to vaping, which I thoroughly love. The shop set me up with a starter kit at 18mg and I have been happy. Truth is, I am vaping a ton! I am not craving a cig or anything, it's just so convenient to vape while watching TV or in the car, things I would not do before because of my kids. Plus, I'm not snacking all day (something I did before vaping). I really want to try a lower mg strength but the shop insists I will be smoking again in no time if I do. She won't sell it to me! Anyone have thoughts on this? Should I wait? Can I get something much lower for those "between" times when I am not jonesing for the nicotine? Should I just go to a different shop? Opinions???

How I learned to stop worrying and love the vape:

In fact, even after 1 hour of use, users could not obtain plasma nicotine levels similar to smoking 1 cigarette in 5 minutes. The results show that nicotine absorption from e-cigarettes is slow and probably resembles that of NRTs.

You probably aren't getting nearly as much nicotine as you think ;)

EDIT: To be more helpful, if you are vaping all day and have a concern, just drop a level and see how it affects you. There's no formula. If you find yourself craving a cigarette again, just go back up.

I have never seen a shop unwilling to sell a nicotine level that a customer wants, this is very poor form. You don't have to explain yourself to a store clerk, that's ridiculous!!

For me, I started at 36 (crazy!) and that's where I needed to be for the first month or so. I dropped down to 24mg and didn't feel a difference, then I went between 24 and 18 depending on flavor for another month.
These days, I switch between 3 and 6mg. I mix my own, so price isn't an issue, and I vape however much I feel like vaping and call it good.
Still, I'm going through about the same amount of liquid per day as I was 6 months ago, meaning I'm taking in less than 1/6th the nicotine. My best advice is to give it time. There's a ton of stuff in cigarettes that are more addictive than nicotine. Give your body a chance to adjust to that. Stepping down the nicotine will be a walk in the park after what you'll be feeling for the first couple of weeks.
Give it time.

Don't worry about how "quickly" you'll lower your nicotine dosage or how "immediate" you'll be free of anything similar to smoking/vaping. The whole to point of vaping is to enjoy it - let your body do the rest and you'll eventually either be smoke/vape free or vaping with 0mg nicotine. Relax. Vape. You're not smoking the 10000000 carcinogens in cigarettes anymore. Breathe. Vape.

If you ask me, I love vaping at 15-18mg nicotine. Is it carcinogenic? No. Do I personally plan to stop vaping? Hell no. So relax. You're not smoking cigarettes anymore (hopefully) - that's something to be celebrated.

Cheers!

Lower nicotine is often good for late at night, sometimes too much nicotine can keep people awake a little bit.

Stick with your higher nic strength, and while your vendor has your best interests at heart, just let her know that you need something lower for certain times of day, etc. It's good to have some different strengths laying around, esp. for a new vaper

It's really not up to her to make those decisions for you. ;) But I think she is just trying to be helpful.

If any shop won't sell me what I ask for I would stop shopping there. They aren't in business to dictate to me, they are in business to SERVE me, and if they can't get that right I'll go somewhere else.

As far as how much nicotine you need, the nicotine level of the juice is only half the equation. There is also the device you are using. An Aerotank on an MVP at 8-10 watts is going to produce 2-3 times as much vapor as an eGo with a cheap clearo. That means you're going to get more nicotine per puff with the MVP using the same liquid in both. The more vapor your setup produces the less nicotine you need in the juice to stay satisfied.

And if the people in your local shop don't know and understand that then they aren't very good at their job.

For me, as quickly as I could. The high strength stuff hit the spot for the first week, but it was soon apparent I could go with less. I still hit my 24mg stuff first thing in the morning, but the rest of the day it's 16mg. It will hopefully be 16mg/6mg by week three. But gear problems are messing with me right now.

I'd rather not vape everyday for the rest of my life though.

This is ridiculous. I'd find another source.

No one can tell you how quickly you can reduce your dose. My suggestion is just buy a bottle of 12 mg (somewhere, lol) and try it, but keep some 18 on hand in case it's not adequate.

I dropped from 18 to 12 without even noticing the difference, but everybody's experience is different.

Only a week in, so my experience is small, but I started out getting some 12 and 18 mg juices and I have found that I really get more out of the higher nic. I have barely touched the 12mg stuff, except to try the flavors. Originally, I told myself that I would try to use vaping to also get off of nicotine, but now, I am not sure that I am going to be able to do that.
