As I quickly adapt to this new way of "smoking" I find the hardest part is all my friends and coworkers that still smoke. I feel awkward and slightly embarrassed in some way telling them that I've converted to vaping. Maybe since most people haven't even heard of it.
It's kind of like saying, "No, I no longer eat food, instead I've found this little machine that injects a nutritional liquid substitute directly into your stomach. But go ahead and eat while I calibrate the gastro-actuator."

So I'm assuming many of you have successfully managed to step outside and "light up" with your friends without to much hassle or weird looks. How did you go about it? I'm really curious.

Yup I would imagine most people would be intrigued, especially if you explain them the endless benefits. Don't worry they will not frown upon it, especially if its people you already know.

I tried to convert my dad as I have a high intolerance towards cigarette smoke thinkin it would be a nightmare to try and get him to try it, especially since he is one of those who likes smoking and has no intention of quitting.

He was very open to trying one and I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered him a 510 and waiting for it to be delivered.

I am even thinking of using one myself with 0mg nic instead of a shisha (hookah) if it can match the intensity of flavour and amount of smoke a shisha (hookah) produces. :)

my biggest problem right now is getting off the analogs...vaping doesnt seem to be enough when i first wake up so i have an analog in the morning (3pm at the earliest ;) )

so heres the thing with me...i have that stupid analog when i wake up and then i still smoke analogs during the day when im not at home...i must admit ive cut down from 1.5 to 2 packs a day to a pack every 3 days, and no analogs at all when im at home or my local 3 or 4 watering holes, but i cant kick the habit at work still since i work in a place that doesnt fall under washington states smoking ban

i think though, if i can stop having the analog in the morning, i can completely stop analogs...i just might need a little push....SO PUSH ME AND TELL ME IM A STUPID, STUPID, DUMB DUMB!!!!

lol thanks friends

You're STUPID, you're so friggin DUMB!!!! :p

I think if I can sit down with my espresso con panna and have a good vape, then I can completely quit.
Also I write at night, between midnight and 5 AM usually, and it's hard to break the habit of going outside and pacing in the dark with a smoke. The problem is I don't have to go outside anymore.....

Try using a higher nicotine juice for your wake up time and for those times where you normally smoke. You will be surprised at how much increasing the nic will help during those difficult times............

    Somewhere between here and there
I have been vaping for about 5 days now and have cut down from 25-30 analogs a day to 8-10. Yes, I would like to and expect to quit eventually. Like Elendil said, get some high strength juice. I have some on order. I started with 18mg and it's not quite enough. I also don't stress too much about the few analogs that I do have. I know I will quit eventually. It is easier and more positive for me to focus on the number of analogs that I have not smoked. That would be about 100 by now. That's a huge accomplishment for me and I believe you just have to find your own comfort level with the nicotine. Good luck!

I have only been vaping for about a week. I haven't had a single analog. I smoked about a pack and a half a day. It seems to me like everyone is different. I enjoy rubbing it in to my co workers while I am in my office and they are outside by the window... It's fun. I have let them try it. Most of them are actually placing orders themselves.

I had troubles switching over, too.

What worked for me is that I stopped all forms of nicotine for 2 days. I was having a molar extracted and I scheduled it to occur on Friday morning. Just took it very easy and rested up the rest of that day and all day Saturday.

Then, on Sunday morning, I started vaping. I did go back to chewing 3-4 pieces of nicotine gum per day, but that's about the same as what I chewed while smoking 10 analogs. Between the two sources, (gum and vaping) I was just fine. No cravings.

Out of curiosity, I tried a couple of puffs of an analog a few months afterwards, and it tasted very yukky to me.

My problem isn't really the nicotine, it's the habit and perceived "peer pressure" to smoke analogues and not be so different. lol

I was smokling 3 packs a day, now I sometimes have one analog during the day, sometimes none. I have had all my friends say how great it is , apart from one, who says its poison and banned in Holland, yes my friends are Dutch. 3 Dutch pals converted and only use them occasionally. One said she had got bored so went back on analogs. The other 2 told my hubby they use it now and again. I continue to enjoy mine and refuse to go back to analogs, they on the other hand can do as they wish. My hubby still smokes analogs by his own choice.

If I had any friends that were giving me peer pressure about anything I would tell them to go tell it to someone who cares. And if I had any friends that were hassling me or giving me weird looks I would ask them why they still smoke those disgusting coffin nails. Maybe I would offer to take them out shopping for caskets or something.

As far as peer pressure goes, it doesn't exist for me.
Peer pressure can not be felt if one refuses to feel it.

But then, that's just my personality I guess, and I understand it isn't that easy for everyone.
I'm still not sure why though, but then I'm also sure I'll never know why.

Be proud of who you are, and the rest will follow.

Same problem. The few times I've broken down and had an analog since I got my 510, I was pacing on my back porch at 4am chewing on words.

vapin' is superior to cig's if you got the right equipment and juice, you should be expectin' looks of jealousy from your smokin' buds as you billow out massive vapor clouds, and superior smoke rings, and if any of your friends give you a hard time for doin' what your doin', they an't really good pals,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and you should kick them

I'm in the same boat as Deadcat2. I don't "do" peer pressure, never have. I attribute it to my "F**k it" attitude and a moral code slightly lower than Courtney Love's. I'm a hedonist to a fault.

Hell, I only wear clothes in public because I'd get arrested for being naked. Do what makes you feel good, there's too little time in life to feel bad or worry about what others think.

If you like it, enjoy it, and it gives you more time on this earth, then show that to them. I'd bet money that at least a friend or two will see that reflected in you and feel envy and even switch over to a healthier lifestyle.

Help your friends by being yourself.
