You just had to post that now didn't you! Sure would solve my problem with overheating the switches when I solder. Of course it's way beyond my comprehension, but I've been tossing around the idea of building a puck for my uncle for x-mas. Really wanna get him off the analogs-copd and all. The video that guy MahBohMan posted was pretty good. Was that 2 screws with washers he used? Maybe if I watch it 20 times and can find the parts I may just make an attempt.

I just know you're all thinking"Oh god noooooooo jewelz!"

The touch switch looks really cool! Once I figure out a little more about all this stuff I may have to try my luck at one of those.
I finally obtained a multimeter yesterday and tested out my puck out of curiosity. Btw my meter is an anolog style so these might be off by a tenth or so. Anyways I'm getting 5.4 volts no load with fresh batteries and 4.2 with a 2.3 ohm 510 atty loaded up.
It's a really nice vape at this voltage and the nimh batteries seem to hold up really well. So all in all I love this thing is my point in the end lol.

Still not sure if I'm crazy bout the red but that's the great thing bout these, u can either repaint it or just build another a different color!

Thanks jewelz. After I got it built I sanded it down with some fine grit sandpaper. Then sprayed it really good with primer, sprayed the red, then gave it a good clear coat. I just stuck a dead atty in the connection and used masking tape to cover the button. I still need to finish sand it but I wanted to give it a good while to dry. My wife might be interested in the rhinestones but I'm still shook up over having to use the mini pink hot glue gun lol.

Thank you, thank you!

Even though I'm preaching to the choir - can I just say how blown away I am by the performance of the 901 atty on these things. It's incredible-never thought a 901 could be just as powerful a hitter as my ce2s. In fact, I think I'm getting better hits out of it. It's quite shocking. So if there's any other noobs out there on the fence about trying one of these-don't hesitate. It's worth your effort!
Exactly! I've been vaping with 'The OG Puck' for several months now and have never looked back since. It makes your cartos come alive.
And oh so cheap! so cheap. Vaping has never been more inexpensive..

I'm back again....even though you're probably sick of me! :p

So I'm :vapor: along for 15 days with my pucks and they're working great. But my atty's are not. I've blown through 3 of em already. Is there a recommendation for a particular brand and/or supplier for attys that last a long time? I bought my last two in preparation for the puck from ecigexpress, but I'm only getting like 4 days out of em. I had hoped to get a couple of weeks out of em! Am I being overly optimistic about their life?
Hit up Royalsmokers - their cartos kick ... and they last longer and vape better than anything else I've ever used. Just my experience.

Sorry had to figure out how to do it lol! All I have is my iPhone to take pics with right now too.
Well done! I used a dead 510 carto end for my connector as well. Just have the right thread adapter(s) on hand and you vape anything out there! I see you like the Energizer bunny too - and AA batts - I love the MaH on those motorscooters. I can vape solid for 2 to 3 days before recharges.

Yes it is Mr Puck. Btw, thank you for your development efforts and assistance to the vaping community. I couldn't agree more with your philosophy that vaping should be less about reliance on mail-order and overseas goods and more about the individual's ability to control their choices related to vaping. As it stands now, I can A) build my own PV (thanks to the Puck), B) repair it if needed (thanks to the Puck), C) vape at several different voltages if i so choose (thanks to the Puck), D) purchase batteries anywhere and anytime i choose (thanks to the Puck), E) make my own eJuice if i choose, F) build a repairable atty OR carto..... very little left that I can't pick up at a local supplier except for silica/fiberglass wicks . If I have to wait on the USPS to deliver something else to me I'm gonna POP. And given the recent cuts to the USPS I'd advice everyone to look at ways to reduce their dependence on mail-order. Anyway, sir, thanks a-million.

The idea to make my Puck look more like a pack o' camels was twofold. First, a casual glance from any non-vaper/ex-smoker/etc and they see a familiar branding in a familiar shape and possibly think nothing of it. just a pack of smokes. (it's close to the size of a pack of non-filters). The Puck has somewhat of a "detonator" type look to it without decoration of some sort. It does, however, perform SO well that this cosmetic issue is soon forgotten. Second, I thought that since camel was my analog of choice for soooo long that continuing to see this branding while vaping HUGE plumes of "smoke" would reinforce in my mind that I was still "smoking", as it were, and ease the transition from analogs. Still getting nic, still hand to mouth, throat hit, clouds of vapor,... the mental, physical, and visual are all still satisfied without the issue of black lung. Maybe overthinking it, but it's keeping me off the coffin nails. Could have done a better job cosmetically, but it was a quick build (hour maybe). I'm sure my wife will want one soon as well, so maybe I'll dress the next one up better.

I'm thrilled with the performance of this device and that I am 90% free of depending on vendors and shipping and handling charges, and for that, sir, I thank you again.

And thank you for your kind comments sir :)

The whole idea was born due to the fact that I hate mail order and having to wait for something when I actually need it now. Years ago, I was down to my last 901 battery which was brand spanking new. I pulled it out, charged it up and screwed it onto the atty. It lasted about 1 hour then died, never able to be resurected again. I was stuck. I had to order some 901 batteries over night at a premium cost.

I said there had to be a better way so I started researching different battery types that you can get locally and what parts it would take to build around them. A couple of months later and the Puck was born. :) I couldn't believe the vapor, taste and battery life it was getting so I tested it to death. I decided that everyone should know about this and how to build one so they don't end up stuck like I was and be tempted to revert back to the nasty cancer sticks. I created the tutorial to try and make it as easy as possible for everyone to put one together for themselves.

What I really hope for is that everyone at least builds one for a backup to their regular daily PV (if not using the Puck for that), so in a pinch, they could even put some alkalines in there just to get them by until thier daily PV is back in operation. I put alkalines in a at least once a month when I forget to charge a set of my nimhs the night before. It's a life saver :)

Most 901 atties are about 3.2 ohm. I had ordered 5 901s from China and 4 of them popped in less than a week. All I can say is make sure you are getting 100% true SLB 901 atties. I've even had a couple bad ones of the SLB type but most are better. My last atty lasted 5 months (from the same pack of 5 China atties). So from what I see, atties are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get :)

I use 3.2ohm clearomizers. I've had ones last well over a month and at $10-$12 for pack of 5, they're a great deal imho.

I've been playing with li-ion mods recently; but as my signature says "Puck has my back" :D

I've been wanting to try some of those. Where do you pick those up (if you don't mind sharing your source :)? ).

Yep, your Puck will be waiting there faithfully when your last li-ion dies and you don't have any on order yet :).

Try to not let it get too dusty :)

(1) I think I have gotten a pack or two from Mad Vapes; but presently the highest they have is 2.9ohm. I have picked up a couple of packs from Got Vapes (Fluxomizer), they have (when in stock) a wide ohm range of clearomizers - in 510 & 808 threading.

ETA: Clouds of Vapor also carries 3-3.2ohm clearos (510)

(2) Don't I know it!!! :D

(3) NEVER!!!!!!

May I have a moment of silence for the passing of one of my first Pucks that I ever built...:(
After 6 months of faithful service daily, the atty connector developed a short, collapsed the
battery springs, the led (second one, after a previous repair) leads keep breaking 'till they are
too short to solder onto. I was able to stretch the battery springs enough to make contact,
and kludged the atty connector so it works, the batteries just need to be recharged after going
through a dead short (still work fine). Dropping it a half dozen time likely didn't help with it's
life expectancy.

So now I'm faced with investing $10 in a new Puck mod, but I wanted my first and favorite
to have a decent burial, and be remembered fondly..... :)
