For those who may be interested, here's a video with the solution I've kind of settled on for the Echo-E Cartomizer, at least for cleaning... and it should work well for the Go-Go cartomizer for both cleaning and filling. NicLiq, I hope to have your "kit" out to you sometime this week, looking forward to getting some real-world feedback on this!

Great, great work!

Wanted to thank mohawkx for posting the cleaning method.

I used this method on my ECHO E and it worked perfectly.

Wanted to add that my dry burn took about 50 hits (resting several times to let the carto cool down).

The first 10-15 hits to dry out the water from rinsing the carto and the rest to burn the coil. You can't see the coil until the junk is burned off...just keep burning until no more nasty smoke and smell. Then be sure to rinse all the ash out of the carto (I pour boiling water through the carto)

The filler material went in easy. I used the straw provided by Billb.

I fired up the echo right away and had slight burning taste for an hour or so (even with the filler pushed down slightly). I will let it sit over night next time.

Thanks for the good hit, Nancy. It made my day. :) I have a lot of gogo and echo-e cartomizers and that system works very well for me. I can count the gogo or echo cartos I've had to throw away since early march on one hand. Not many go for it though as it appears to be too much work for most folks. so many new methods and devices for cleaning cartos now that I thought with the exception of me, the Mohawkx system for rebuilding cartos was headed for the dustbin. Thanks again.

Lot of great info here!

I did run into a problem and was wondering if someone could help. Being a new Go-Go user I got my 5 carto's with the kit plus 5 empty ones. So I been vaping along for few weeks and decided to clean my first carto the other day. I ran it under hot water for about 5-7 min, let it sit on a paper towel over night battery side down. Today I went to fill it with liquid and I dropped about 7-10 drops around the side and it leaked right out of the bottom. I thought maybe i got it down the tube, so I retried making sure I 100% did not do that and it leaked right out the bottom again. I am curious as to why this is happening and if I did something wrong during the cleaning. All I did was run water through the carto for 5-7 min. I didn't remove the filler or anything. Anyone have any suggestions as to why this may be happening?

It's probably still saturated with water.

I thought that but it has been about 42 hours since i ran the water through. I guess I can try to hit it with a hair dyer for a few o put it in the battery and give it a few dry hits. There any ideas anyone can suggest about what to do?

They are very hard to get completely dry. Some people put them in a food dehydrator, some bake them at 200 degrees, some use an air compressor. You can try a hair dryer, it might help.

Mohawkx. Just wanted to tell you thanks for the hard work. I still use your cleaning system. Just a little different since the cost of fuvual is so cheap I just use fresh each time and don't worry about cleaning filler material.

I use a lot of Fluval in the gocarts also. It works very good for thick or colored juices. You're right. Just throw it away and add a new piece.

The symtoms you describe are classic wet filler. Remember, the filler material is designed to retain moisture. That is it's primary job so it always takes longer to dry than one may think. For the type of cleaning you want to do, the link below will probably give you best results. comes with complete instructions too.

Will this work with a GoGo, size wise? Has anyone here tried it?

Yes it works with the gogo. You have to run the clear tube under hot water to soften it and it slips right on the gogo carto. The attached link I gave you shows an echo carto attached to the cleaning device. The echo carto and the gogo are very close in diameter at the lip end.

I got the cleaner kit from smoktek and I can't seem to get it to blow all the water out of the cart after cleaning. I got as much out as I could and let them sit to dry and over a week later, they still have water in them. I'm thinking the center tube is allowing too much air out so the pressure of the syringe won't push all the water out of the cart.

I haven't tried the vodka method, but I'd like to know if there is a trick to blowing all the water out. I'm trying to avoid having to pull the filler every time I need to clean a cart.

Put them in the oven at 125 degrees for about 4 hrs. If you think 125 degrees is hot, it was 115 in Phoenix today. I've also wedged them in between the grill of a small circular fan with the lip end facing the fan and that dried them in about 12 hours.
I hate to admit it but I have a lot of cartos. I just set them on a window ledge and forget about them for a couple weeks.

A couple of tips I've come up with you all may be interested in.

1. When reinstalling the cleaned filler after a tear down and dry burn of a carto, installing it dry is preferred by most so they can use it right away. Here's a trick to installing dry filler easily. Drip a couple drops of the juice you intend to use in the rebuilt carto on the straw where you intend to wrap the filler. This will cause the thin cotton batting to wrap itself tightly around the straw and stick. Wrap the poly fil around that and the whole assembly slides easily into the carto body as the juice acts as a lubracant.
2. I use the giant syringe method of swooshing out the old juice and doing a cleaning with out a full teardown. I can get 1 or 2 quick cleans out of a carto before I take it completely apart and dry burn/rebuild. The biggest challenge with the quick clean is waiting for the filler to dry. I've come up with a method that drys the filler on a boge, echo or gogo overnight. Here's a picture. It's pretty self explanitory. A rubber band and a piece of bent coat hanger. turn it on, leave it overnight and they're dry in the morning.
Happy vaping, campers. Or is it happy camping, vapors?

Whatever happened with Vapian's cleaning kits?

Well, I'm trying to thread-jack mohawkx excellent work any further :) so will keep this brief.

Life keeps getting in the way of my hobbies :) but should have some time to do more work soon. There's still some discussion in the original Cartomizerfillinator thread, which is probably where all future updates will appear unless someone else cross-posts.

I've been using a knock off syringe method of Vapian's CartomizerFillinator method and it works extremely well. I can get at least two cleanings with the syringe on a gocart or echo without pulling the filler. After that it's the Mohawk Frankenstein method of tearing them apart and performing open heart surgery(dry burn) on them to get them refreshed. I still contend now more than ever that the gocart cartomizer is built like an M-1 Abrams tank.
