So is there a resistor ? How does it make the passthrough 5volts? Or is that standard power from a usb output? Please let me knoe , im gonna try this

USB Ports put out 5 volts although the output amps can very quite a bit. You want at least 2amps from the USB port to vape off of.

thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I was able to very easily convert my old dead 901 to a PT this afternoon. After a weekend of no vaping I was starting to get a little cranky.

A little history: The battery that I converted was not marketed as a DSE901 (bought it from a local flea market vendor) and they sell the disposable carto. The online retailer I was purchasing my atty's and battery from helped me figure out that the battery I had was compatible with the 901 (at least it was until I traded in the old battery for a new one - neither of my 901 atty's work on the new battery) I can't vap using the atty's for the 901, but can use the cart with the PT if I refill them.

Here's the problem: I get 5-6volts coming from the plug (we decided to go with a 5v old cell plug, didnt want to blow up my laptop) but when I attach the carto it drops down to 2-3volts - any thoughts on what i can do to fix that??

You need a adapter with at least two amps. Even then it is going to drop but would should be somewhere around 4.1 to 4.6 volts while vaping, depending on the ohms of your atomizer plus the ohms of the PT. If you can find a 5 volt 3amp wall adapter that would even be better, but a two amp should give you a decent vape.

Thanks Java_Az I thought that might be the problem after reading through the forum a little bit more. Since I am still a newbie at PT, what kind of adapter would I need to get? The vap that i am getting now is very very small and it seems like I am pulling forever just to get a tiny bit of vap. I think I have a 5 volt 3 amp in the "box o' wires". I am not using my atty with this generic 901, for some reason it just doesnt want to work, I am using the disposable carto's (that I refill) they do fit my brand new DSE901 battery (that is also shot and I am sending back tomorrow), so I really don't know what type of adapter to get- thanks for your help!!!

How difficult would it be to integrate one of them diy vv kits and a led voltage display, like the ones from madvapes?

It would be easy to do. Problem is once you slap a regulator on 5 volts you have to account for Drop out voltage. Even the best LDO reg your going to get around .5 volts of a drop, max output voltage would be 4.5volts. So in the end your not going to get it to go to 5 volts output if you wanted too.

In theory, couldn't you rig a switch to bypass the regulator if you chose to leave 5v open as an option?

Yeah that would for sure work.

so would it be possible to use an old cell charger, just cuting off the mini usb connector? I don't have a computer and am short on funds id like to use one of these old chargers

Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk

yes as long as it has the amps to power a atomizer. 2 amps and your good to go 3 amps is even better if you can find one that high. Bad thing is most those chargers are 500mA and thats just not enough to power a atomizer.

Here is my PT

I found a cell charger in my junk box...says output is 5v 800mah....should I use it? if so what resistance atty/carto do you think
Just use this.

Online Conversion - Ohm's Law Calculator

Plunk in the amps and the resistance of your atty, hit calculate and it will show you the Volts. Note the volts will probably be at least 5% lower in a real world test. Building a heavy duty PT like Java's (good button, good solder joints and beefy cable) will minimize this drop.
