I found this and thought I would share but I don't know what ingredients would be okay to vape. Has anyone tried making flavorings?

Making your own rock candy flavorings at home is easy, but requires even more patience than making rock candy. You'll be making extract, like the familiar vanilla extract, but you can make it with virtually anything--fruits, vegetables, herbs or spices. If you're brave enough, make all of the unusual extracts you want; you just might discover that black pepper rock candy is tastier than it sounds.

Could be an interesting experiment. Not sure if I'm brave enough to make my own flavorings just yet. Standard extraction techniques work for a variety of ESSENCES so definitely possible, some are definitely trying tobacco. Trying to get those other ingredients as well as flavor.

I think the main thing is whatever you extract must be soluble in water/VG/PG or possibly PGA in extreme cases. Again, what is safe to vape and what is not can be a debate in itself before we even get to whether or not it SHOULD be vaped.

Again, if the FDA bans the stuff, I'll learn how to extract nicotine+ from tobacco, till then I think I'll play it safe with the factory stuff. Flavorings are not expensive I believe to warrant this for anyone but the most dedicated or possible frustrated hobbyist.

Honestly as I read the page, eight weeks seems a rather generic time for extracting different things. Might actually destroy say nicotine in a tobacco extraction for that long. For flavoring might be verging on too concentrated, but we can always thin with vg/pg

A little of a good extract will go a long way. Follow your rock candy recipe to determine the right amount for your batch.

I've done it, and other than the finishing off process, it's pretty easy.

Put whatever it is you want to extract the flavoring from into an airtight jar, put in at least twice as much PGA as the organic material you are working with, and let it sit in a cool dark place for at least a month.

Drain and strain, and then I heat (not boil) the liquid to evaporate a portion of the alcohol, and concentrate the flavor.

Then, start mixing... ;)
