I am new to this, here's a little of my story. I started smoking at a very young age of 11 years old (my whole family is smokers so I felt the need to try it and got hooked) I am now almost 18 years old and 2 days ago started using Blu E-Cig. My mom also tried it but she lasted 5 hours before saying it wasn't for her so she went back to regular cigarettes. I haven't had a real cigarette in 48 hours, I'm not having a big craving for a real cigarette but I am having a small one but it's manageable. Everyone is smoking real cigarettes around me and it's very tempting, anyone have any ideas on how I can fight temptation? I really do think Blu will help me quit smoking eventually, but I also think I'm going to get addicted to more vaping products lol any suggestions for this noob? Thanks! :)

Sorry to hear you're surrounded by people smoking analogues. Must be super tough!

Hope you find somewhere to escape to that gives you a respite from this. And hey, maybe you'll convert everyone to give vaping a try by setting an example. It only gets better from Blu forwards... Your mother might not have been satisfied with that, but there's a whole other world of vaping tools and juices out there.

Good luck. Don't give in.

Congrats on taking the first step. It's tough and don't beat yourself up if you smoke again. It's like every other habit until you make the commitment to stop it cannot be forced on anyone. Keep on and like what was said above chain vape if needed, change your nicotine strength and stick with it. Eventually those around you who are smoking will seriously consider it since its working for you. When I am around both my parents who smoke it doesn't even phase me. The few times I tried to smoke a cigarette after vapimg awhile it tasted horrible and wasn't nearly as satisfying.

Welcome! I see you're a fellow N. Cackalackian! It's especially hard for us, being in the heart of enemy territory. You've made a very bold decision by choosing to vape instead of smoke. Stick to your guns. Represent your generation. Lead by example. Be the strongest one in your family. You'll find every ounce of moral support you need right here. Use this forum, there are some truly awesome people here who can and will answer any question you might have.

Above all else, enjoy your new hobby, and explore all of your options. Vaping isn't something you do because you have to (like smoking is), it's something you do because you enjoy it. I came here because I got tired of being a slave to cigarettes. I've stayed here because I enjoy vaping. It's everything I ever loved about smoking, with none of the stuff I hated about it. Best of all, it's not killing me.

There are some great brick and mortar vape shops in NC, too, where you can find companionship and support with like-minded former and aspiring soon-to-be-former smokers. I encourage you to look them up and pay them a visit! Nothing beats face time with other vapers, especially when you're first starting. It really gives you a sense of belonging, and that was something that meant a lot to me during my initial non-smoking period.

I still hang out at the smoking areas at work, even though I'm vaping, simply because those are all the people I've been socializing with for the past three years.

I quit smoking almost three weeks ago, and now realize that cigarettes stink.
I still find them mildly appealing, but not nearly so much as I notice their foulness.

So after a few days, providing you continue to vape, you may also notice how gross they smell, and will have no problem staying away from them.

I keep a half-pack of cigarettes in my garage, left over from when I quit, 'just in case'... and I don't find myself even wanting one.
After only 18 days.

Hang in there. :)

Beyond the fact you have smokers all around you, I am afraid you have one of the least effective personal vaporizers (PV - ecig) on the market in the Blu.

If you are serious about staying away from smoking, get a better model PV. At a minimum, get a Kgo that is the size of a sharpie pen and will give about 6 hours on a charge and more consistency. If you want to step-up even more to a better performing model PV, get a variable wattage model like the Vamo ($39). Here are some sites to consider:

VAMO Variable Volt/Watt APV V2

In Charlotte (on-line & store front):

Madvapes - Electronic Cigarettes, E Cigarettes, E-Cigs

Note: Rule of Thumb: generally, the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

I will agree with what wv2win says. Wherever you're "at" with smoking right now, though, don't lose sight of what's most important: Not smoking. There is a tremendous amount of info here, and it's very easy to get quickly overwhelmed and start feeling like you might be in over your head. If you feel like the Blu is doing it for you, by all means, stick with the Blu. Many of us started with cigalikes (referring to those products like Blu that closely emulate actual cigarettes), but eventually you may feel like you're not getting the satisfaction you crave from them. Don't lose heart if that happens, most of us have been there too!

Those links that wv2win gave will be useful... But only after you turn 18, unfortunately. Hopefully that will be soon. :(

In what area of NC are you located? If you're near Raleigh, I would recommend Misty Mountain Vapors Electronic Cigarette Sales as a great place to find a great start in the world of vaping. We also have the Puffing Monkey and Raleigh Vapor, and a new Volcano store recently opened in Cary. They're all great places to visit with knowledgeable staff, and you can sit down, relax, and sample all the different flavors they have on offer. If you live too far away, I'm sure there are other similar shops throughout the state. Look them up! You might even find something you could ask for on your birthday and score some free gear! :)

Welcome to ECF Girlygirl. Wherever your journey takes you, there is probably not a more friendly or more informative place than ECF on the net. Hang in there.

I smoked for 37 years, about a pack a day average. When I found ECF and vaping last year I REALLY NEEDED to quit smoking. It's working for me so far. I'm vaping zero nicotine juice now and I need even that less and less every month. I wish I could have found vaping long before I really needed it, but it is what is what it is for me.

I'm not going to recommend any hardware because I'm not into the smaller stuff. Others can do that much better than I ever could. In the end, whatever you get into, if it keeps you off cigarettes, it's all good! That's all that matters. And if you smoke for a bit, don't beat yourself up about it. It's not about the cigs you have, it's really about the ones you didn't have that counts.

If you have some money, well not smoking should give you more cash on the hip. Get obsessed with vaping, and try loads of flavours, ego with evod clearomizer and vape away. All the previous posts say it, blu is starter only. Take it from us, its worth it in the end. My lungs have improved loads. 20 yrs of smoking. Been vaping for 3 months and my asthma has gone away and my lung capacity is defo better. Last cig I had made me feel ill. stick at it. Good luck.

I agree with what Fido says. My experience mirrors this. I still go to the "smoking pit" at work to Vape because of the social connection and the need to get away from my desk. But, I really don't want a cigarette and am annoyed by the smell. When I started with my e-cig, I had an open pack with 15 cigs in it. I think in that first 24 hours I smoked 2. And, then over the next few days I had 1 every morning. Then it went to 2 days between having one. Then 5 days. Each time I smoked a cig, it tasted nastier. Anyway, on April 15 (two weeks after starting), there was 1 left in that pack sitting on the kitchen counter. I started to throw it away, but thought "No, let's try it and see how bad it is now?" I took three drags off of it and each one literally gagged me. That's it! I'm done with cigarettes. I do admit, I had two unopened packs that I threw in the freezer for "just in case." But, I know I will go buy a disposable e-cig at the convenience store now before I will get into those in the event I somehow find myself suddenly without access to my e-cigs.

There have been a few instances where I think I want a cig, but I realize it is not the cigarette I want, but the scenario. For instance, I thoroughly enjoyed sitting on my back porch at night after the kitchen was cleaned up and all other chores were done and smoking a couple of cigarettes before going to bed. That was my wind down routine. Now, I just use the e-cig while I listen to the crickets!

I was a pack a day, 30+ year smoker. Every previous attempt to quit smoking lasted less than 24 hours. The fact that I was able to get off cigs so fast with so little discomfort still amazes me. I went to my doctor on the day I could honestly say it has been 2 weeks since I had smoked a cigarette and she was thrilled. She told me I was her 5th patient to report that e-cigs had successfully helped me quit and said she would now start offering that suggestion to her other patients that smoke.

Hang in there! You'll make it. And, congratulations!

I think what you're doing by going to the e-cig is a fantastic thing! Kudos to you!!! :thumb: It's sometimes hard to do the right thing for yourself but I have faith in you, heck look how far you've come already right? You've already made the hardest choice which was to do it! (Getting out of comfort zones can be like climbing out of the tar pits. It's a hard thing to climb out of!) If you find what you're using just isn't doing the trick anymore, there are tons and tons of options. I'm sure you'll find the perfect fit for you if you need to or want to just change. Good luck and welcome!

Hi ! First grats on the decision to quit ! thats the big step, wanting it ! Like the general consensus on your thread, i would try to invest in an ego type batteries + some juices. When i was starting , i think it helped me a lot that i smoked the fruity ones.. made it easier for me to favor the ecig than the stinky. I am only 30 days old.. 31 if i include today, and it only gets better the longer you hang on to the ecig..

Also i learned from this forum that we dont all start the same way....if incase you slip, dont give up ! keep vaping, keep at it till it becomes natural habit for you. It is not the stinkies you smoked, it is the ones you avoided that matters. It will get better that a promise. Just hang in there !

Also this forum is my support group. Im pretty sure if you have any questions, you can ask away, they dont make you feel newbie by asking, i know, coz thats how they made me feel. :)

Grats !:toast:
