I've been taken baby steps to complete my Provari, ViVi Nova, batteries and charger. That in itself is an accomplishment with me being someone who has to do exhaustive research before I part with my money. I brought all of these based on the information here. So thanks everyone. Now on to ejuice. I've checked on forums here the reviews of vendors and ejuice. I realize the moderators can't be sure which reviewers are just customers, being compensated or just groupies. I guess one way to tell is if only one viewer like the vendor and 7 don't. I understand flavors are subjective. I thought the top 5 vendors thread was easy but some of these vendors would be great in the beginning of the thread turning out to be pretty bad towards the end. I rolled my own cigarettes which is much cheaper than premade. I find prices of ejuice at times to be more expensive but my health is too important. I'm on a budget, especially after buying the provari so I can't be spending a lot trying out ejuices. I know a little about DIY but I'm just starting out. I need to keep it simple for awhile.

You can't. We're human and have biases built in whether we admit it or not. Sampler packs from the various juicemakers is the way to go. Sample them for yourself. No one has any way possible to know what you like. Might want to do an ECF search by juice name. If the list is long, it is likely popular and worth stopping to take a peek.

I see you mentioned DIY. You can make it much less than any vendor out there, that is a simple fact.

Vendors need to make money so they can stay in business, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, we want our vendors in business! That said, I will not pay over 50 cents per mL delivered, and I don't care how good everyone says the juice is. I have some I buy that I like and have had the opportunity to taste some of the expensive ones and you know what? It's just juice that costs 5 cents to make and the expensive vendors juice isn't any better than the others, just more talked about. Some are talked about because they are hard to get, or a certain color, but when you find out they are making them out of their home it just doesn't seem to me they should be charging more than the average vendor, or one that actually makes them in a brick and mortar or a dedicated lab type environment.

There is a thread on here "steals and deals" along with coupon codes you can use to save on the juices.

I do buy from vendors the premade because I can't replicate them with DIY, but my rule stands: I will not pay over .50 cents delivered, and if you look around you won't have to either.

You make some good points. But it is also what the market bears. If the juicemaker is making crappy juice and charging too much, they'll be gone. Also, many of us don't want our wives killing us by trashing out her kitchen making our own. And I don't mind paying more for an artisan's expertise and trials and tribulations. I can make some excellent color matches, but I have no talent for matching flavors to my taste. All that said, for folks like you (and others), it's a great endeavor and worthy to think about.

Halo at #10 and JC 40 - whoa - just goes to prove the fact ppls tastes are very different - I would never buy halo again....think 2 months of seeping should have made it better........lol - my diy tastes better.........lol

Most juicemakers seem to have a signature that runs throughout their entire line. As if you try one you've tried them all. That seems to apply mostly to those juicemakers whose juice tastes like perfume, floral, or chemicals.

I have noticed that also. I don't know what exactly the mystery, perfumey, florally ingredient is, and if I ever find out I will be VERY happy. Because I won't be stuck with sampler packs that have that one thing in it I just can't tolerate, I will be able to ask the vendors if they use it. FOR ME, it gives me a sore throat and tastes horrible. Luckily, I am able to give these away to a friend with no funds and so they don't get tossed out completely because it doesn't bother her.

Any idea what that elusive ingredient in some lines is? It has to be fairly well used, I have come across it a few times. No amount of letting it sit with the lid off, no amount of steeping gets rid of it. It is just a PART of it.

I understand the Chinese like those floral/chemical/perfume flavors. I think that's how they infiltrated the American market. Of all the complaints about smoke juice, that's easily the biggest one.

that reminds me of the joke:
Q.How do you tell if a lawyer is lying?
A. His lips are moving.

Of course reviewers are biased, the trick is finding one that is biased in a way similar to yourself. I rarely take much credence of e-liquid reviews (tastes are subjective), and as far as hardware reviews -- I am more concerned about the technical specs and general usability instead of the reviewer's comments on how awesome the device is...

There's quite a few factors when mixing juice that could contribute to a floral/chemical/perfume taste. The main being the flavoring of course, some are actually made for perfumes. Most that I've found are due to the purity of the VG/PG though. Also how they store the batches can add to the flavor, different types of plastics vs glass, etc. That's why I just DIY these days, that way I know exactly what I'm getting.

I don't pay much attention to reviews, unless they're made by someone I've come to know. It's taken me a long time to identify people who I'm familiar enough with their tastes that I can go by what they say. I can often tell if I'll like, or dislike, a particular juice by their words. It's not a 100% guarantee by any means, but it certainly helps. A review by a rank stranger doesn't help me at all.

Another problem with reviews whether it be juice or gear is that some kid just got the latest gizmo and used it for an hour and he's all fired up about it and will go spoutin' off about how great it is. Check back with him in a week and that same gizmo is at the bottom of his shoebox with the rest of his failed crap.

There is not going to be one ingredient you can pick out, and you will simply have to do your own trial and error, Learn a bit about flavor and fragrance, and you'll understand why.....here is a link:
Research and Articles

Taste VARIES per the individual, best you can hope for is guidance based on going toward majority of similar experiences to get you in a general ballpark.
