I did vote and chose number 4. Years ago I went cold turkey and for 6 long years I was a non-smoker. The problem was that every single day I wanted a cig. Once I caved in and smoked I was hooked insteadly.....tried cold turkey several times and couldn't make it past 8 hours. Then I tried the gum, the patch and the losengers.....no luck at all. They all makde me want a cig worse than ever. In January of this year I tried an e-cig and have NOT wanted a cig at all. I feel so blessed to have found these and feel so much better health wise too. I get very anxious when I think e-cigs may be banned because I don't trust myself that I won't go back to cigs.

Thank you Vocalek for all that you do for this community....you are our angel!!!!!

Tried Zyban, patch and nicotine gum, none of them worked. Zyban allowed me to quit for short period of time 3 months but once off the drug cravings returned, plus Zyban changed my personality wouldn't let me sleep and made me a non-responsive empty shell of human being. Nicotine Gum was horrible it gave me heart burn was very ineffective at getting me to quit cigarettes made me sick, didn't give me the oral stimulation I needed. The Nicotine Patch made me sick in the stomach, was ineffective at getting me to quit cigarettes I still needed that feeling of exhaling smoke.

I did quit smoking the very first day that I tried an ecig and quitting wasn't even the goal, initially I just wanted to cut back on the number of cigarettes I smoked but the ecig allowed me to give up the cigarettes immediately. The ecig is a seamless way to give up cigarette smoking, very effective. It's funny when I used the FDA methods I still craved cigarettes, smoking was always in the back of my mind. Since I started vaping I haven't had a cigarette craving, cigarettes disgust me now. If I'm outside near smokers I go away from them can't stand the smell of cigarettes.

I did not quit nor cut down smoking that nasty tasting nicorette gum. I bought the pricey gum when it first came out. I tried it again a few years later after I heard they had orange flavored thinking maybe I could stand to keep it in my mouth, but that didn't work out for me either. I think I paid $50 for the box and chewed only about 3 pieces of gum out of it before tossing it. I've never tried the patch.

Here are my thoughts on NRT's, specifically the patch:

I wore the patch (several times) but it felt just the same as the times when I tried to quit cold turkey. I was able to quit using the patch. I was also able to quit cold turkey. I was able to quit a whole bunch of times for varying amount of time, but never for longer than 6 months (when I was pregnant the first time).

Just because I wore the patch and did quit smoking, doesn't mean it was effective. I tried it 3 times and quit every time I used it.... for several weeks.

My point is: Is it really quitting if we ended up here anyway? I don't think so.

So my answer is options 1 and 5: yes I quit smoking completely when used as directed.... and no, it didn't work at all.

 I tried to use the gum with suckers, straws, everything I could think of, yet I could not get rid of the craving. I gave it a year, but failed. I tried my vaping and have not smoked since memorial weekend and have no desire to smoke and that is really amazing to me. I feel great, I can breathe, no coughing at all . What a difference. My husband still smokes and said if I make it a year he will quit.
Even he cannot believe how much easier this was than the gum, or pills. Thank you for letting
me give up smoking. I love to VAPE!!!!

I tried the patch for about 3 weeks many years ago, but it did absolutely nothing to dissuade me from continuing to smoke. So, I exercised a tiny bit of self control and cut my smoking by about 1/3 for the first week. I spent the next two weeks smoking at my usual pace while still wearing the patch before declaring the experiment over.

I'd call that a complete and total patch fail.

None of that worked for me, I also tried hypnosis, acupuncture, zyban and chantix. Chantix did reduce my desire to smoke, but it also made me nuts..and I have never had any psychiatric issues, but that crap just made me hateful..I would get so mad i would throw stuff in the house, and run around swearing..drive in the car and flip people off, threaten the dog..stuff like that.

I had decent luck with the patch and staying off the cigs, but I started having problems with shocks of pain going down whatever arm I had it one and a really nasty red rash from where it had been. Doctor recommended I get off of it immediately, and never use again.

Gum I lasted about a week and half, tried again lasted a week, third and final try I think it was about two weeks. Gave up after that.

The gum tasted nasty, burned my mouth and made me nauseous. Lasted about 3 days with that, still smoking.

The patch made me itch wherever I stuck it, and did not reduce cravings especially when I could smell people smoking. I started taking it off before I went to bed so I could have a smoke in the morning, and just took longer and longer to put it back on. Gave up after about 3 weeks.

I tried Wellbutrin, but it made me really .....y, I snapped and cursed at everyone. It also made it hard for me to sleep, and I still wanted to smoke. Gave up after about 2 weeks.

I never tried lozenges because I thought I'd have the same problems as with the gum (burning mouth and nausea).

Speaking for myself, PV's helped me immensely with the psychological aspect of smoking. Something to hold and put to my mouth, the throat hit and blowing out "smoke" made it kind of easy to do without the real thing. But after a while, when the initial novelty wore off, I felt as though I wasn't getting enough nicotine. I would vape and vape, but to no avail. I almost gave up. Then I discovered Swedish Snus. I've since combined the two, leaning heavier on the snus, and I can now safely say that I am cured. Never, ever again, will I put a cigarette to my lips. :)

I had been using the patch at first as directed but could only maintain not smoking for a few hours usually just 1 hour.
I continued using it because I have COPD and Asthma,Bronchitis etc.
but the patch simply does not work well.
I used these FDA approved nrt's for more than two years.
I smoked the whole time while wearing the patch I cut down by only a couple of cigarettes at best.
I had tried gums, lozenges, patches, hypnosis and acupuncture all failed miserably!
I could not take Chantix because of the side effects.
I continued to buy this junk for two + years and never had a single day or inkling where I thought "Yeah I'm gonna quit smoking with this".
I saw a friend on Skype using a wetbox and he recommended that I try an eGo kit.
I was cigarette free in two days!
Two days, this was beyond my wildest expectations!
I would've been happy to just cut down but this is the most fantastic, working product on the market in years and it has saved my health and indeed my life.

I chose the last option as well. For some stupid reason I kept going back to the patch for years but always with the same result; wear the patch for a few days, get frustrated and rip it off, light up, try to start again the next day. A few times I went for a week or three without a smoke, which I guess is what kept me trying, but in the end it was a complete and expensive failure.

Tried the gum once - didn't even make it a day.

Tried Zyban for a few weeks but didn't enjoy feeling like I was wearing some one else's skin and stopped taking it.

Tried cold turkey a few times, which was at least as effective as the patch. Even made it for three months this way a couple of years ago. I always felt rather "spaced out" after a few days of cold turkey - like I wasn't myself. And my productivity was near zero for the entirety of each attempt - I was almost completely unable to focus on anything of consequence.
