How would you describe a successful 5v experience?

The switch has tenatively been made to 5v. The vape, as others have noted.. is harsh. Is harsh the so called 'sweet spot'? Could it be due to a choice in liquids? I have put in for some fierce Riskee Yuice to try straight and to cut with 50% VG and try there, I suspect many of the satisfied Prodigy v1 users enjoy the ry.

I definately like the hardware... but you can almost taste the electricity.

What should we expect from a successful use of 5v?
Us newbies would love to hear your tale.

When the Prodigy V1 hit the streets (it was the first true 5v device that was put in to production) lots of people had to end up stepping their nic intake down. I had once used 16mg, then dropped it down to 11mg, with the occasional 4mg. At first (atleast the first week or two) it almost seems like your system adjusts to the *harshness* of HV's ... Then with time, that diminishes - atleast the harshness - but you still get a great throat hit. I never stepped back up to 16mg, and have stayed at 11mg for quite a while now.

With your juice, adjust it as need be. Perhaps mix it down to 10-12mg and see how you do with that. As your system adjusts, mix more 36mg bumping up the nic content to satisfy your cravings :)

Juice is definitely a big factor in enjoying a 5v device. I haven't found any juice that i like better than PS's in any device and especially in the 5v prodigy. Just order some PS juice and you will be good to go. I use 36 still, so maybe i am crazy, but the nic level hasn't really been an issue for me.

Like Cash said, mg adjustment is necessary for sure at 5 or 6v.
I think 5v is the perfect spot to be at. BUT, you must adjust juice to match. Once that is achieved you're all set to go!

Sounds like a bunch of hooblah to me, haha, j/k, really, i am totally kidding. I never adjusted nic, just couldn't use non-PS juice that i have, some of them actually made heave a bit when i tried them on the prodigy. PS juice=awesome, regardless of device.

The key to keeping the harschness away is keeping it wet! You may need to top off every few puffs until u learn the right amount it needs to not taste harsh....I remember 6v vaping at 1st--eww....then I learned what was enuff for 3.7v was DEF NOT enuf for HV!!! Hope that helps :)

What she said - keep it soaked. I'm not happy unless liquid is pooling around the base of the atty... Obviously a bad idea when using 3.7 lol

The nice thing about HV vaping is that you can never seem to flood the atty! Alot of times I would overfill my 510 carts and have a puddle at the top. On my 3.7 devices the atty would be flooded and I'd have to tail pipe it or blow it out to get any vape going. At 5v (on my PS PT) I can pool the top of that cart all I want and it just vapes away!

What I have found in my experience is that most of what has already been said is true. I do mix my own nic liquid mostly because I love the Virginia taste and because I like to add a little VG to generate more vapor. At 5 volts I add just about 5% more VG to compensate and mellow out the harsh taste.

Another cause of the harsh taste is the poor wicking quality some stock cartridges have. There are many different ways to increase the wicking action, as can be found in the cart modders forum. A way to assist the stock cart is to take out the filler material and remove some from the sides thickness. The loosening up of the filler "fit" will increase the wicking action. Just remove a little bit at a time and don't remove too much because the cart will start leaking into the atomizer. The stock cart configuration is designed for PG only juice and slow vaping. The 5 volts puts too big a demand on the cart and sometimes the harshness is caused by the atomizer running too lean. So it requires and uses more nic juice than a 3.7 device.

Is it because you changed the strength?

I started with 36mg, but was getting headaches, so I use 24mg now. Been using a 510 & 901 all along. However, all Puresmoker had in the juice sample pack was 11mg when I ordered my V2. I added the 11mg sample pack figuring it wouldn't matter since I was mainly looking to sample the flavors and pick my favorites.

Could that have actually been a good move since this will be my first 5v device?

Edit : Trying to make sense. lol

Ill know that for sure in a few days :p sadly I tried all the advice at once to get it fixed. Less flavor more vg lower mg. My previous liquid was 24mg with 100%pg and 20 drops keoke per 10ml. That was harsh (burny). I suppose th vg must have a high burn threshold, or just mask the taste somehow.

Which VG are you using? The kind that says Skin Protectant / HUMCO?

I am using a 510 atty with a 901 cart on my 5v filled with poly-fil Nufoam material I got from walmart, I have Tasty vapors banana nut bread pluming clouds of flavor! I also use the B.D.F. cart mod with a 510 cart and HV blueberry crumble. The only time I get a bad taste is when it runs dry.

Keoke coffee? I got that flavour from lorann;s but hesitant to use it as it looks ... thick. Very very thick.

Yep very think. Other lorans I've used up to 35% before its too strong. Keoke is good at about 1%, just add it one drop at a time to find the strength ya like. Its quite a strong flavor. After being added to plain pg its a slightly tinted color much like most of the shop liquids. Its a liquer coffee type flavor, but almost taste kind of tobacoee in a way if I squint. Its become my defacto vape whenever I'm waiting on delivery of a proper juice.

I'm going throw in with Cash here, mostly, and recommend that new HV users immediately cut their eliquid strength roughly in half when making the transition to HV. You can always increase it a bit to find your personal preference.

Also, nobody has mentioned here that your choice of atty is a factor. You might prefer a different strength and mix depending on whether you are using, for example, a 501 vs. an 801 atty.
