Hey y'all. I've perused the forums a bit before joining and I must say you guys seem to know whats up. I'm on day 4 with no cigarettes and I've found e-cigs to be the only thing that could have possibly helped me quit. So far I've tried a few disposable brands (njoy, Blu, and Finiti) with varying results. I think I'm ready for a rechargeable model and I hope y'all can help me find the right one.

- I think I prefer the fake cigarette to the fancy vaporizer things. I'm more addicted to the action of smoking than the nicotine, so holding the fake smoke in-hand is better for me.

- Refilling with liquid seems like a pain, I'd rather have the ease of use of a replaceable cartridge.

- I don't mind buying the starter kit online, but I'd like to be able to buy refills at a local retailer (this seems to limit my options more than anything). Maybe someone can change my mind on this...is online ordering promptly delivered by your brand?

- Could care less about flavors, I just need a good menthol. I smoked American Spirit menthols if that helps in suggesting a brand.

From the little research Ive done, the V2 seems to be a good choice, except that I would have to order refills online. As for brands that are carried locally, it seems to be a choice between Blu and Fin. Any thoughts on these brands?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to ECF, JibbaJabba.

I started with the Blu disposables and moved on to a rechargeable Blu kit. After a short period of time, I realized that the said was not going to maintain my interest nor satisfy my needs. I promptly moved to a joyetech ego-c twist set-up. I have since moved on to another device. However, any ego platform is an excellent starting place to begin with.

When the time comes youtube reviews can be helpful, also look to see if there are any storefronts that deal in devices and juices .
Online ordering is usually very good as most send tracking number so you know when you package arrives .

Once thing i like to add when out and about always carry an extra battery and good luck.

I've tried blus and V2s. For the price they charge you (and the performance), I would go with the mod setup. But like you, I also like the feel of a cigarette in my hands and you don't get as many funny stares so I carry around the v2s as well. The blus were the most expensive...one cartridge did not last very long. The V2S are great because it's a bigger battery and has some good options for refillable cartridges. I'm using the kr808d-1 boge 2.0 on my v2s and they work good (much better than the refillable ones they sell). One thing I did not like about the v2s were their horrible tabacco flavors. However, their menthol was decent and you said you're a menthol smoker so this may work out. Anyhow, V2s with boge cartomizers...

One more thing, you can find pre filled kr808s as well; online, unfortunately for you. But like someone else said, ordering online is not bad. You start to develop an ordering cycle.

Hi JibbaJabba and welcome,

You sound a little "older" and set in your ways (and I'm not far behind you) but the look-a-likes, for my money, are not the best.

I too also preferred a look-a-like to begin with but they really deliver a far less hit than these new fangled fancy vaporiser things;)

I would advise a Ego battery and tank or clearo. The tank/clearo holds enough juice for a day and are relatively easy to refill.

Thank you all, thats a lot of good advice to start with. It sounds like a lot of folks start with one of the "popular" brands, but as you get more familiar with the tech you move on to fancier gear. I'm a bit hesitant to jump in and buy all kinds of expensive gear, especially since I'm not sure how long I'll be at this. I think I'll start with a V2 and try to get into an ordering habit, as someone mentioned.

Thanks again everyone, so glad I found this forum early in my vaping career! =)

Disposable prefilled cartos are a rip off you're going to want to buy your own juice and refill them. Prefilled cartos cost roughly 10+ dollars for 5? A 30ml bottle of eliquid from mt baker vapor costs roughly 7.50, and will refill ~30 cartos if I'm not mistaken. See the difference? It takes like a minute to fully fill a carto. Youtube is your friend, theres many videos on how to refill cartos. You can even refill the prefilled ones that v2 sells.

1 - smokeless image carries the volt brad fake cig looking e-cigs

2 - they also sell the pre-filled cartridges, it is more expensive that way, but if you dont want to deal with the mess thats your choice

3 - If you can find a brick and mortar e-cig store in your area you can probably get cartridges there, if not shipping is not bad its 2-3 days for most places that i have tried so far

4 - smokeless image has 3 flavors of prefilled cartomizers in Menthol - Menthol Burst, Mint, and Ice Menthol perhaps one of thoose may suit your tastes.

I hope you find something that works for you and is to your liking.

I don't want to be an infomercial, but I can only talk about what I got and have been using at work the past four days (started one week ago, so I am totally an expert. :p)

I ordered a Halo G6 and picked the prime flavor for my cartos. It comes with 2 blanks you can fill with anything. It arrived on friday and I have been using it at work almost non stop this week. I immediately ordered a the 6 sample pack (Tobacco). The prime grew on me but was not my favorite. I filled the blanks with some stuff I got from a local shop (Buckeye vapors BV4 and Grey, LOVE Grey, tastes like Count Chocula). I also got a 3rd battery and some more blanks in that order.

I was going through 3-4 carts at work. So today I grabbed 2 fresh blanks and 2 flavors from the sampler. I have been cycling through them and topping off when I feel the flavor is weak. I think this is going to be how I do it from now on. And I have a 3rd battery on hand just in case. I am hitting it heavy cause I like it.

One thing I have noticed is that you can tell when the battery is getting close to needing a charge. Even with topping off the vapor production and flavor starts going way down.

I am not here to sell Halo, but it is what I have and I do really like it. If I knew even a little more 2 weeks ago when I ordered this is what I would have got.

Halo G6 Kit with Torque 56 18mg Carts - Manual batteries (I got one Auto and one Manual in my kit, when I ordered a 3rd it was manual if that tells you anything.)
Spare pack of blanks
6 pack Sampler
Large Water Bottle (trust me, keep it full, hit it 75% as much as you hit the e-cig)

From there I would just have dedicated a blank to one each of the samples, and topped off my prefills with the sampler that matched. It would have been a bit cleaner way to start.

Obviously pick a kit you like the looks of. V4L and others all have kits that are similar to the Halo. One note though, it's 45 bucks for the halo kit now... was 55 when I ordered.

I hope this made sense, if not, let me know. I will try to explain better.
