Watched a review by Todd on YouTube, and he seemed to think the P3 burns through batteries pretty quickly. Does anyone that has spent some time with a P3 feel like battery life is shorter than a 2.5?

While I can't say with any certainty, I would imagine that battery life would be very similar between the 2.5 and P3, if both devices are operated within the 2.5's limits. The P3 on the other hand can drive more power, which will inherently require more battery. The P3 makes up for this by being able to utilize flat top batteries (such as the Sony VTC5), that has about 600mah more capacity than the typical AW IMR 18650, which in theory should mitigate (and likely improve upon) the greater battery usage.

The VTC5 would be the single reason I'm considering a P3 - but only if it increases the run time. I know the boost setting would use more power (I would disable that), but am wondering if the upgraded processor uses more power with everything else being equal?

Hopefully someone from ProVape will answer this, but I would venture to believe that the new board is actually more efficient, and uses less battery than the 2.5.
I know a VTC5 with a full charge will take me all day+ running at 20w on both an SX350 and a DNA30. Of course everyone is different. If I were to wager on it, I'd put my money on the P3 being at least on par with the two boards mentioned.

I've been running the P3 at 10W, mostly on 18650s.

I'd rate the batteries as running best with a VTC5, followed by VTC4's and then AW. I'm seeing about 13-15 hours on an AW to a bit over a day with the VTCs. (this is considering sleep.) I didn't run my 2.5 in 18650 mode so can't really comment there.

18350's have been a bit of a headache. 2-3 hours, compared to 4-5 with the 2.5. I've found that I put the mod down showing ~25% battery, pick it up, and it won't vape, showing empty, and the LED begins flashing. I re-seat the end-cap and it'll go back to 25%+ and vape again for a bit, at least long enough to get to a spare battery. Honestly, this is a bit of a deal-killer for me as there's no warning between normal and dead.

Don't have a complaint with the functionality using 18650s other than size. It's quite a bit less pocket friendly.

Some of this does sound like a deal breaker and very similar to the problems with the battery monitor of the dna30. I love some of the new features, boost or power shot..whatever it is called. All three battery sizes in one mod. Adjustable 510 pin so things will sit flush. But no notification before it dies can be a big problem.

VTC4 set at 12w on 1ohm build, boost set at 3 will get me through a full kayfun with a little batt to spare.

I am finding the boost is really draining my batteries, however it's hard to say like for like as I changed to Torchy 18650 batteries with the P3

however with V2.5 AW18650 2000 mah lasted 2 days, with P3 with boost 3 the Torchy 18650 3400mah is lasting half a day.

Being able to run flat-tops in the P3 is going to be a huge benefit. I was never really happy with the life I got out of the AW 18650's - I'd be able to go through two of them on my "heavy' vaping days.

I'm running some Panasonic NCR18650PD's in the v2.5 now, and the additional 900mAh is a greatly welcomed boost.

I can go from 8:00am to 5:00pm on the 2.5 with 18350s - then from 5:00pm to midnight on a second one. - if the P3 can't do that I'll not be getting one. I don't need the 5 watts but the replaceable 510 and the flat top would have been nice. I don't really use the 2.5 in 18490 mode ever - Too bad.
I hope they end up with = battery life to the final release.
