So, the results are in, and they're not good. I don't get to go home tomorrow, or even next week. Maybe in a month, if I'm healthy enough after the chemotherapy. I have bone-marrow cancer, something called acute myelogenous leukemia or AML. It is curable, they say, but the treatment itself is pretty rough and its only 40% effective. If that doesn't work, I'm looking at blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants. And if they can't cure it, they say I've only got a year, maybe two left. Jeebus, I'm only 36 years old! I'm not ready for this...
Nooooooo! :cry: That sucks. But you know, they come up with new treatments all the time - in fact, that's one of the more common ones, so I'm sure they're working hard to figure out how to treat it. But yes, get a second opinion - one person doesn't always have all the answers. Take it proactively, do all the research you can, and maybe look into clinical trials. Hang in there, and keep your chin up - it ain't over til the fat lady sings. ;)

Also .. you can go home... Whenever you wish. Please keep in mind that the doctors work for you. They are not your bosses, they do not pay your bills. Please make your own choices.

@NancyB ...here's the list for when you get home tonight...

Thanks Mary for thinking of me! Having some issues with my Mom in her last days - so got something else that's more important presently than this contest to deal with. Will chat more when I have time. xoxoxoxo NB

Sorry, I can't 'like' this post by "bwh" NOR this reply by cindycated, especially the last line - 'everything will be fine'
I wonder how cindy can say this? who is she, God? Perhaps it's just my attitude this evening but my heart goes out to bwh in his ordeal and truly can feel the disorientation of his life tonight - please know I'm lifting you up in my prayers for a total healing so you may take the last half of your life and do something with it that will make a real difference in this world!

Just trying to instill a positive, productive attitude through this very difficult time he's about to face - no need to be rude. You don't like something, no need to insult, just scroll on through. Thanks.

It's called keeping a positive attitude. I'll either get better, or I won't, and there's no sense in crying over spilled milk, or dwelling on things that one cannot control.

@bwh79 my thoughts and prayers are with you. No doubt you have the right frame of mind to help you get through this. Remember, stress can wreak havoc on your body and you need all the strength you can get now. Positive thinking has real power in healing.

Now, you need to find a way to get that charger and some liquid up into that hospital. :vapor:

Ahh, its finally over, the week is done, dont have to be back to work till Wednesday night
Good for you. I retired but work part time 2 days a week. Today is one of those days. My part time job pays for my vaping toys and my other hobbies :) I'll try to check in at lunchtime and see who the winners are.

I have been working this same shift since 2000, I have spent many a night there, so any more, when I can go home its a plus

My thoughts and prayers go out to you {{{{{{ @bwh79 }}}}}}

Try as hard as you can to think that you will absolutely beat this! I know just hearing the 'C' word puts you in a tail spin. After getting past that initial diagnosis, now you need to fight it.
