And that in itself is a 2 year process, they are so backed up on claims. Then once approved it takes another year just to get Medicare, in the meantime the person must rely on Medicaid. I have a patient who is on her 3rd year and her appeal is set for October. Not trying to sour the mood, just want you to know just what you are up against time wise...if you did not already know....GL!

I can vouch for that I started the disability process over a year ago and so far the denied the original claim and my first appeal and have been waiting for 2 months now to go before the law judge. And there is currently a 467 day average wait time to go before the law judge so at a minimum it's gonna be another year!! Ave I had an advocacy group at first but after the first appeal was denied the wanted a non obligatory donation to further there cause and when I told them I had no money I never heard from them again!! Well, I'm going to attempt repair here soon.
If all else fails, maybe I'll MacGyver a 18650 battery holder on the outside (and remove the battery inside) and make it a replacable battery. It would be ugly as sin, but it would work. The upside to that, more capacity and quick changes when the battery dies.

OMG! It's been forever and a day since I have heard someone say "snow machine" makes me tear up!

You say that down here and people think of the snow makers they use at the ski slopes.

And honey pots... Yah.... Better than a -50° outhouse with no blue foam! (Said from experience)

Doubt I would meet their requirements............yet. I may be able to hold out a few Months but a long term wait will be extremely bad.
Family management has put me in a precarious position. Income has been exceeded by expenses for over 10yrs. now.........but I cannot turn my back on family.
I have trust all things work out as needed so long as one continues to put forth the effort.

I feel for your position..I was too proud to apply for SSDI 3 years ago...now that I've ransacked half of my retirement savings, I'm wishin I had at least applied.....I am able to do some things, but my condition is degenerating...always best to stay educated about the options. Never know when we might need them. I will keep you in my prayers. Wondering, does ECF have a thread for members living with disabilities?
