Irma's eye is now over Naples and she's losing some punch. Should be down to a Cat 1 by the time she makes it to Tampa around 2:00 AM

Lets hope so.

I've been watching a live feed of Irma going through Naples. The eye just went through, and now they will get the backside and the storm surge.

It's amazing and scary to watch. So tell me why everybody gets evacuated, and then they send these weather correspondents out into the big middle of it. Yeah, I know. Sensationalism and money, but, really? Reporting live from a balcony in blinding rain and 130 MPH winds. Really? I kept expecting the wind to whoosh the guy into space. Or get hit by a flying tree or something.

I wish bews stations would go back to reporting the news….only. why do we need to have reprters ask people whose house just burned down or flooded how they feel? That's idiotic.

Going to make this short and sweet and without power since about 2:30 this afternoon. Of course no real life since Wi-Fi is out and mobile data is not behaving. Friend let me tag into his mobile data that's how I'm able to post. Hopefully I'll be back to normal tomorrow. Talk to you guys when I'm back online.

Just lost power here. Maybe temp. If not it's gennie time.

Some idiot is cutting a tree in rhe pouring rain. He may have knocked the power line down.

Got our power back after about 1.5 hours.

Expecting 5-10" more rain tonight on top of the several we got through the day. Wind is picking up. 11pm-6am is when we'll be getting our worst.

My oldest kitty is really nervous. Hiding under the bed.

Getting pretty breezy here in Volusia. Lots of sweet sweet rain. Just lost power about a half hour ago and kicked the generator in. Looks like it moved a little more inland toward us. Time for a long nap. Not really worried about anything at this point.

So electric went out for...a whole 30 sec then came back on thank God. Looks like what's left of the eye is coming straight towards Lakeland :0( hopefully we won't loose power then (which inner we will if we hadn't lost it before). Around the eye it's raining 6 1/2" per hour and gust close to 100mph. Hope she dies down a little before she gets to us. Supposed to be going over us between 11:30-1. I'll keep in touch with what's going on.

Glad you're posting, classwife; hope all is well with you. And thanks for the update. I've watched this storm all day. Hard to know who is experiencing what. I just pray this will all be over very soon

We are just having lots of rain and intermittent gusts of wind.
The 'thick' part of the weather hasn't really hit here yet.
This thing moving inland is quickly taking the life out of it - thank goodness.

Lost power right after my shrimp pizza post. Guess Irma had 'nuff sea food on her way in! Had hot dogs instead: fridge food first.

Nonetheless, we did great and are beyond relieved!

Just a quick update...power is out for good. Flickered on/off some this evening but it's out completely. The eye is heading right towards Lakeland and the news is saying that it's gonna be here in about 1/2 hr to an hour. I'm going to try and stay up till at least the eye goes past us.

Lord, be with everyone affected by this storm. Be with the residents of Lakeland as this storm bears down on us and allow it to move over us without any damage to anyone's homes or lives. Allow this storm to degrade some before it comes in contact with my home town. Amen!

Glad to hear from everybody. Been playing a city building game all evening to keep our minds occupied because this butch hit us around 11pm and is still going strong outside. Sounds like a war zone out there. I dont dare look outside…afraid of what I'll see. I can't even think about trying to sleep.

Still have power but gennie is hooked up and power packs are fully charged.

classwife texted me and requested that I let you all know that she lost her power around 11:20pm EDT . She currently has no access to the net. (Also, the wind is getting stronger in her neck of the woods... a lot stronger).
