So the worst part of the storm is going through Lakeland right now. I have never seen the wind blow this hard before. I have my front door sounding like it is going to blow down and the rain hitting my front window (facing east) sounds like someone is throwing a bunch of small rocks at it. Looking out the front window at the tree tops against the lighter colored sky blowing in the wind and wondering how they are still attached to the tree. This is NUTS!!!! She should be heading out of Lakeland in 10 min or so. Just hope everything holds up and the storm looses steam as it travels north. Good luck to everyone who is in its way and may the Lord be with all of you and watch over your house and families.

Well the worst has come and gone. Rain is pretty much over with. Just still dealing with the wind. Just went outside for a min and feel the power. Felt exhilarating to say the least. Signing off for tonight. I'll be back to check the other post in the AM. Night y'all and hoping that Irma spares everyone to my north.

OK, a quick fly/float by...

Lost power right after my shrimp pizza post. Guess Irma had 'nuff sea food on her way in! Had hot dogs instead: fridge food first.

Nonetheless, we did great and are beyond relieved!

Thanx fer da prayers and concern! What a crowd...

BTW, gotta luv power packs. Smart phones

Just a quick update...power is out for good. Flickered on/off some this evening but it's out completely. The eye is heading right towards Lakeland and the news is saying that it's gonna be here in about 1/2 hr to an hour. I'm going to try and stay up till at least the eye goes past us.

Lord, be with everyone affected by this storm. Be with the residents of Lakeland as this storm bears down on us and allow it to move over us without any damage to anyone's homes or lives. Allow this storm to degrade some before it comes in contact with my home town. Amen!

I feel like I'm having a nightmare wide awake

Can you believe it I fell asleep, we still have power but cable and wifi are out.Took the pooches out back the trees held.One piece of top siding is hanging from the porch, never heard it crash down.Cell towers must have held.So thanks to AT&T I can check on the world.We where just so darn lucky.

Checking in. Power is out here. I had just gotten done with after dinner cleanup and was cleaning off the stove when they flickered off then on...off then on... then just off. Finished cleaning it by flashlight. LOL

Went to bed early, now I'm awake. Way too freaking early.

Outside we finally are getting some lulls in the wind. Not many but it is no longer a sustained wind. Rain finally looks like it is out of here for now.

There were shingles in our front yard and I have a feeling they are ours Will check when it gets light outside and calmer. Can't believe the strength of the wind still.

As of 8 AM, max winds are down to 70 mph and Irma is no longer a hurricane. However, she's got a huge tropical storm-force wind field that covers most of FL, GA, and SC.

In Flagler county (where my place is) FPL had estimated 10% of customers would loose power. Right now, it look more like 80%.

Ok here. Staying with friends a branch broke and hit the roof of their patio but other than that all seems OK. Power out everywhere. DH will drive to our house later and other than power hopefully all is well. We do have a generator so will have basic electric.
