I agree. It was really eye opening on how much money they take in and how it's spent.
And how slow they are to respond in sny meaningful way. They charge for coffee & other things for the people they are supposed to be helping. In the field, they were giving people one sandwich in 24 hours, while not providing any breakfast or dinner. If local people, neighbors of those in need, showed showed up with donuts or hot meals RC tried to take it from them & throw it away "because they are in charge & everything has to go thru their distribution center. If you want to help, send money.". They even called the police when the neighbors ignored them & gave out food.
I will never donate to the RC.

haha, thanks,, been there done that,, it wasn't fun.

Flood insurance / we got into the court room....

they started off with 'what did you do with the funds from xyz house?

....uh,, i dont even know where that is.......

'again what did you do with those funds?'......

again, i dont know anything about that house, i own 1 house at abc,, now if someone did insurance fraud that is your problem not mine. produce the paperwork with either one of our signatures

F/I lawyer turns to judge and says 'she cant say that'

judge says...yeah she can

next F/I lawyer says it will go on my credit report

i said,, (as husband gets that sinking feeling and crazy idea he will have to visit me in jail) look,, if you put that crap on my credit report and i will sue the heck out of you,, meantime i hope that bad credit score stops anyone else from tapping my credit,,,,but more importantly, you need to hunt down who got those funds and give them a job,, because they outsmarted all of your people.

f/i lawyer again turns to the judge and says 'she cant say that'

judge again says,, yes she can and she did.

we won.
Lol! They never know what to do when you challenge them.

Thank you for your input...
I've been DIY my juice for 5 years
and often have to "bain Marie" a liter to soften up the VG base in order to get it out of the container.
I then decant it into 4oz Bell jars, one of which sits in the fridge (not frozen) or on the lab counter for days when I forget to put it in the fridge. ;)
Still, I don't like to expose 5 liters (think Vapocalypse stash) to unnecessary heat if I can avoid it.

I don't have to refrigerate working vg or pg here.. :D

I read that RC said it was a "misunderstanding" about the food.

They've been like this since the 70's at least. They may be helpful in certain situations, idk, I've not seen it when it comes to natural disasters. Their behavior to the communities is horrible.

In Texas they are saying the red cross was going around and stealing donations people were making to churches.. stealing them right off the steps of churches. One church they were unloading the truck and weren't bringing it in fast enough and the red cross came and took everything that had been donated that wasn't inside the church yet..

Ridiculous.

(PS, that makes me mad because I purposely don't donate to the red cross.)

From what I read the RC wants all donations in one location. The churches and others want it stay for their community. Since it was donated by locals for them.

They think it's all theirs. Multiple instances of this.

I agree, they are mostly about the PR. I was involved in a tornado years ago. RC blew in with the media, and blew out right behind them. Most of remember only getting a warmish "green bologna" sandwich from them, and that was it if we made it into the building where they set up shop.

The Salvation Army was also there. They went around the parking area where I was working to make sure everyone was doing OK and giving out water, food, or other things we might need. They stuck around for several days afterwards. We were all very impressed with SA and what they did.

Exactly. They are going to all the local places that have opened their doors to help anyone & just loading up without being invited.

I wont give a dime to the red cross simply because of what they do with the money. Been like this most my life.

Anyway, so whenever there is a disaster, I always look for local churches or other avenues where we can donate things to, for the fire in TN there was a fire department we could send donations to who were happy to pass them out to those in need, for Harvey I have family members that I was able to send boxes to and they gave them out to those in need as they saw fit, which I'm sure made their way to local churches or other places like that which were helping the community.

But what would make me madder than anything, is for the red cross to confiscate my donations that I specifically didn't give to them so i could be sure they got to people in need.

That to me is nothing more than theft, from those who need it most.
