I just received my first Reo today, a Grand and I'm loving it. I also have a Rev 2 with a hybrid atty on it. The hybrid atty seems to make the juice so much better than a regular atty. I've been told that using a hybrid atty on a Reo will void the warranty. Is this true and if so why?

Congrats on getting your REO Terry!!! What type of Hybrid do you have? The Universal Vapage Hybrid atomizers work well on a REO since it doesn't have the bulge on the end of the connection (Also has gold band towards the bottom of the atomizer).
The reason why the warranty is voided because there have been several users that have reported how hybrid atomizers had shorted their REO's and made the spring collapse inside of the mod. Which is why it's not recommended as well.
Rob did fix it in the beginning but, as more people reported the same problem. He began the policy of voiding the warranty with the use of these atomizers on REO's.

Thanks wash. I'm using the other Vapage hybrid atty not the universal on my Rev 2. I haven't tried it on my Reo yet. Too scared. 
What if I used a 510 shorty adapter on the hybrid I have. Would it then work on the Reo without shorting it?

You could use an adapter but, it might make feeding the atomizer a bit harder then it would be if you didn't use that. Do you have any cartomizers? They work great on REO's and makes it easier to learn how to feed as well.

I use an adapter on my Rev 2 without any feeding problems so maybe it would work ok on my Reo. Dare I try it? I've tried several different cartos and they work fine but the flavor isn't as good as it is with the hybrid atty. I put the same juice that I have in my Rev 2 in the Reo and there was a big flavor loss. I was using a duel coil atty on the Reo. I can't believe how much difference in flavor and vapor with these hybrid attys.
It should be fine. The people that had issues with the hybrid was mainly because they screwed it on tight and the center pin on the Hybrids has bulge at the end of it. IMO it might have made to much contact and caused a short. Not entirely sure on the specifics.
Anyways, the DC atomizers aren't for everyone it seems. I get good flavor and everything else with mine. Although, I use it on my mini woodvil (hits a bit harder) and HV on my Army Tank. But yeah, the Hybrids are some solid atomizers.
My favorites/go-to atomizers would still be my trusted 1.5, 2, and 3 ohm Cisco 306's. IMO if you haven't tried them yet then you should in the future. They really do give a great vape.

I took the plunge and tried the hybrid with adapter on my Reo and it didn't blow up but the flavor wasn't there. Plenty of juice was getting through the adapter. Then I tried a stealth cannon 2.5ohm with 5v on my Reo and I'm getting a completely different flavor. I might not have cleaned the cannon before I put it away. It's getting late so I'll clean it tomorrow and try again. I checked COV for those Uni hybrids but he is out of stock. I might order some from Vapage but I'd rather do business with Bruce. Yes, I want to try the 306's too. Thanks for your help. Will talk more tomorrow.

If you are worried about shorting the Reo, I would recommend taking out the battery before installing the new atty and testing for a short before reinserting the battery.
How do you test for a short without the battery in? I don't know much about this sort of thing.
Take a regular ohm-meter or multi-meter on the ohm setting and place the probes on the battery connections. You should get a reading that matches up fairly closely to the advertised ohm ratting of your atty.
Ok, I did this. My hybrid BF atty is 1.5omhs and the measurement between the battery connections with the atty attached was 2.0 ohms. Does this spell SHORT?
You don't have a short. You should get zero when you have a short. With cheep multimeters you might get some value that is less than 1.0. during a short. You can test this by putting your probes together. My battery is low in my multimeter, so I get a higher ohm reading than what my cartomizer actually is. I have a 1.5 ohm dual coil cartomizer on my Reo during the picture. You will notice that the reading shows 2.4 ohms. It's not a problem in this case.
So then it is ok to try this hybrid atty on my Reo? Just want to be sure I'm understanding you correctly. Have you tried one of these attys on your Reo?
I haven't tried that atty but the reading on your meter shows that you have approximately the correct resistance for the atty. I feel that it would be safe to use the atty now. I would not tighten the atty any more without testing it again. These are just my thoughts. If you were to have an issue now, it would be because the insulating material isn't keeping it's shape when it gets warm.
You shouldn't have any problems. I would re-test after bumping the atty, just because there have been issues with that type of atty. You might consider trying one of these. They produce lots of vapor with little heat.
Thanks, I'll keep those in mind. For now though I'm looking for flavor that only an hybrid atty can give IMHO. Most of the cartos I've tried taste off when I compare the same juice in my Rev 2 with the hybrid atty.
How long did you have your Rev 2. After 2 1/2 months the button was going out on my both wife's and mine.
