Someone else will probably provide a better explanation shortly, but you've got to oxidize that wick somehow. Since you're using a mechanical device, you can use the pulse method.

Just get your SS wick wrapped and set up on the mod, with no juice, and give the button some short presses. You'll probably see the legs or (hopefully) the top and bottom coils start to heat up first. Keep pulsing, giving longer and longer pulses, until the whole coil is glowing evenly. You might have to poke the coils around to get them spaced out more evenly.

It's trial and error. Once you've got the coil looking good (evenly lit) THEN give it some e-liquid and see how it performs. If you're happy with the vapor production, fill up the tank, put the top cap and drip tip on, and vape away!

99% of the time the metallic taste comes from a short. A short is usually caused by metal on metal. It's corrected by oxidizing the heck out of the wick. Oxidizing places a protective barrier between the wick and the coil and the wick and the wick hole (unless the wick hole is insulated).

Things to check:
- wick not too tight in airhole, should slide in/out easily, if not it could scratch off your oxidization
- your coil is snug but not tight
- wick not touching the bottom of the tank, it should be suspended just a tiny bit off the bottom and held in place with your coil (unless the bottom is insulated)
- wick not touching center post or the inside of the the cap
- hot legs, usually solved by reducing the distance between the wick and the positive post

These are just some tips that worked for me. I'm sure others will share more. ;)

Been using mine for a couple of day and I have to say....I really like it (e.g. lightweight, etc.). Venerable Vaping never fails to deliver and their customer service is par excellence...I HIGHLY recommend them.

One area I need help in however, I cannot seem to get my "KICK" to work. While the product description says Anodized Aluminum. It is my understanding that the Kick will not function in a tube that is anodized considering that the KICK cannot make the appropriate "ground" connection.

What I find confusing is that while the exterior of the tube appears anodized, the inner part of the tube is just your standard shiny aluminum variety. I would think that if the inner part of the tube was anodized it would not be shiny.

Alas, I am no expert in metallurgy so maybe I am mistaken and the tube is anodized all the way throughout (it would certainly explain why my KICK is not working as of now.

So, assuming the inner part of the tube is in fact anodized how would I go about using the KICK in it?

Thanks a bunch

Thanks! Got it workin good. But wow. I had to put that wrap that I removed back. .8 ohms is a little too much vapor for me

Pmar, try scuffing the area where the spring from the kick makes contact with the wall of the tube. See if that helps any. When they anodize things, they usually get dipped so it should be anodized all the way.

For everyone that ordered one from Vapor Tek, on their facebook page they told someone it they will be getting shipped from China to them at the end of the week.

If you want a bit more resistance try wrapping your wire 1 - 2 more times around the wick. That should get you out of the sub ohm category. More wraps equals more resistance. Even helps to prolong your battery life. :)

Anyone know if Vaportek has started shipping yet? I have a couple batteries in with the mod order and I need 'em lol.

They said they will be shipped from China by the end of this week on their facebook page. So they will probably get them next week and ship them.
