Welcome Vannie!

Your body will let you know if you're vaping too much (you'll get light-headed and/or nauseous most likely.) Many of us vaped and smoked at the same time. I finally got to a point where I'd spent enough on vaping goodies that I couldn't justify spending any more money on cigarettes.

You might want to have a few different levels of nic on hand. Higher doses for more stressful times; lower doses when you're more relaxed. When you feel like reaching for a cigarette, try taking a couple hits on your pen. If you still want to light up, no one here will condemn you - each of us travels a very different path.

Think of ECF as a support group, if nothing else. Many wonderful folks here, each of whom has a story to tell....

Well put. For me when I started reaching for my vape while I had a lit cigarette in my hand I realized it was time to cut the cord.

Thank you so much :) So, it's not dangerous to do both? That is a big concern of mine. I know I will not give up cigarettes in the blink of an eye, until I am sure about vaping completely, and I feel comfortable. Already, I am feeling better and better about all of this. I am so glad to have found this site. I think it's exactly what I needed to move forward with vaping. Thank you so much for replying to me :)

I personally don't think it's dangerous to do both. I have only gotten "nic-sick" one time (and that was more than enough for me). However, I was past smoking cigarettes, but it was a hideously warm day, and I was not staying well-hydrated. I just put my pen down for a bit, got something (non-alcoholic) to drink and got into the A/C....

One day, one hour, one minute at a time :)

P.S. I pretty much have my vape in hand as much as possible.... I use 9mg/mL juice. You'll be o.k.

Sounds like a an aversion to pg . Welcome to the wonderful world of max vg. Where the flavors are muted(only slightly) , but there's no harsh throat hit and the clouds are pretty. Kidding aside, try max or there are some sites that sell 100%vg. Vape Kitchen is a good one. They make their own vg based flavorings. Owner is a former chef. Good flavors.

I quit cold turkey seven weeks ago...the day after I started to vape. Smoked for 45+ years. For me, it wasn't just overcoming the desire for a cigarette...it was modifying my behavior. I changed up my routine before I quit in preparation. But everyone is different. If you suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, maybe you should check with your doctor to be safe...especially if you are on medication. Vaping may not be the best way for you to go. Believe me, I'm not trying to discourage you...I want you to succeed. But I also want you to be safe.

Hello, Vannie and welcome to ECF. Sounds like you are right where you need to be. I also vaped and smoked until I set a date and put down the stickies for good. It took me quite a while to decide to finally stop smoking. Vaping is what allowed me to quit and stay stopped. We are here to help you. I am so glad that you decided to drop in. Good luck on your new life.

Yeah it is good to be involved with forums like this, you learn a lot and get different perspectives. Everyone vapes differently and a lot of the challenge at first is finding what is best for you. If you can be patient and figure out what you like you will find it only gets easier.
I tried my friends vape pen before I got mine. I thought at first try, I would love this!! And I do LOVE the idea and taste so far. I don't know if you read that I have severe anxiety, but I do. Everything new scares the life out of me. I know it sounds strange when I am not afraid to smoke a cigarette. However, cigarettes are old hat to me. I am excited to get this down and feel good about it. It helps so much to talk with people that have experience with it all. I can't thank you enough for all the information :)

WOW, Congratulations on quitting!!! 45 years+ and you're done, that is AWESOME! You know what, I never even considered the fact of meds and vaping. I am afraid my doctor won't like vaping either way, so I am not sure he would give me a good word on vaping. I guess I am going to have to do some research on that one. Thank you so much for bringing up that point. It seriously never crossed my mind that one may affect the other. I have started modifying my behavior in preparation for quitting. I am trying to break the association with cigarettes and everything I do in life. So far, I am doing well with the changes. You saying you quit cold turkey after 45+ years lets me know it is very possible for me, as I have been smoking less than half of that time. Again, thank you for your reply and information. I will have to look into this subject for sure.

Thank you :) I am glad to be here. Everyone that has replied to me so far, has been so nice and welcoming. Another member brought up a good point about my anxiety. I am going to figure out if this is even good for me. I never considered this point before now. I just know I don't want to smoke anymore, but just never touching a cig again doesn't seem feasible. Well at least it didn't before now. If I cannot vape due to my anxiety, I will have no other choice. Thank you so much for your response and welcoming me :) If nothing else, I will have met a few awesome people. Congratulations on quitting smoking. I have quit before and it was an awesome feeling. Why I ever started again, is beyond me. The biggest regret in my life now.

Thank you :) I have already spoke to a few really nice people here. Since I signed up a few hours ago, I am already a full member. That was pretty easy..lol I am trying to do some research on the entire situation now. Another member brought up my anxiety meds mixed with vaping. I am trying to figure out how safe it is. This is a bit of a challenge, because it keeps giving me information on actually vaping the meds..lol WOW! I seem to get one step ahead, and then 2 behind. I really believe in my heart, vaping is my personal answer to quitting cigarettes. Quitting is something I have been wanting to do for some time now. I have just recently set myself up for change, and refuse to look back.
Once I find out how safe this is for my situation, I will be ordering different mg's of nicotine juice. My ultimate goal is to have 0. I have heard and read so many good things about vaping working. I hope I can find the answers to this newest question about the meds. I never considered it before.

That is how I am taking this stroll, one day, one hour and one minute at a time. It is getting easier for the most part, but I have my slips. I didn't become addicted over night, so I know I won't get rid of it over night. The information I am learning here so far, is a big help. Its so nice to read how others handle this. Do you know anything about anxiety meds, and vaping? I am trying like mad to find this out on google, and all it talks about is vaping anxiety meds..lol that isn't what I want to do, and I don't have to do research to know that. I want to know if it's safe. My doctor isn't going to tell me it's safe because he is totally against anything of the such.

Some people are able to give up smoking altogether when they start vaping, while others do both for a while. It really comes down to the individual. A popular saying is don't worry about counting the number of cigarettes you smoke, count the number that you don't smoke.

I quit cold turkey from 30+ years of smoking a pack a day the day I consciously made the decision to really attempt to switch and started using the blu Plus+ tanks. I've since moved up to more powerful mods and tanks and dropped my nicotine from 24 mg down to 6 mg. I'm two weeks shy of being off of cigs for 5 months. About once or twice a week, or if I get a little stressed, I will get that little voice in my head telling me that I should pick up a cigarette and smoke for old times sake. I just ignore that voice, pick up my mod and vape away and soon the voice goes away.

You've gotten some marvelous advice. Just use us as your support and ask any questions you may have.

I too smoked and vaped for about a month before I managed to totally get off cigarettes. Your body will let you know if you've overdone it on the nicotine.

Thank you so much for your help :) I feel a lot better. I don't believe vaping will hurt me any more than cigarettes are. After all, 3 additives compared to 100's seems like a no brainer to me. I feel a lot better about vaping, and quitting nasty sticks. What I have read seems to be added anxiety, from less nicotine. I am believing that should be expected. As far as my actual meds, I cannot find anything that says vaping could cause a risk. If anything, my dose may need to be lowered because smoking takes away some of the potency. This is my understanding anyway. I really appreciate your help in this matter, it means a lot :) I will go ahead with my plan, and quit smoking, and enjoy vaping. Staying hydrated seems to be key in all parts of this. I do not have a problem doing that. I have recently changed my lifestyle all the way around. The way I eat, and what I drink. Water is all I consume as far as liquid, except of course an occasional glass of red wine. That just cannot be helped at times, I enjoy it :) I love drinking water, so that part should be pretty easy for me. Again, thank you so very much for all your help with this.

Good luck with quitting Vannie! This is an awesome place for advice, as you might have noticed :). For what its worth, my sister has done much much better with her anxiety issues after taking up vaping. Getting her nicotine fix in a reliable way without freezing her .... off in the winter didn't hurt either. Once again, best of luck to you.
